  • Guess I can't complain about my packs/boxes.

First a little something to make Gumbyfan cry:

    image

These are the best of my packs. Sending these off with my sub tomorrow:

    image
    image

Not subbing these due to centering but was still exciting to pull the Dorsett:

    image

Like I mentioned earlier, my vending boxes sucked because half the cards had corner damage. The only ones that didn't were the cards in the middle of the box. Really wanted a well centered Ryan. Only got one and it was miscut. I guess corvettedude got all the Hendersons because I didn't get a single one.

Subbing these also along with about 10 other stars and low pop commons:

    image

But like I said, I am not complaining about my packs/boxes:

I am hopeing to sit down this weekend and bust my box and packs. I am pretty excited to tear into the 82's. The seem to look pretty nice for the most part. On average how many Ripkens are in a vending case? I think there is around 14 complete sets per vending case.
  • i just busted my 3 packs of 78 topps baseball.

i'll try and hook my scanner up here in a bit, but here was my hits.

    1st pack

    3rd pack

Busted my 1978 Topps Football today. Sadly nothing worthy of scanning. I did get a few HOF'ers which I am happy for.
If anyone has extra 78's they don't plan subbing, please let me know. I think I am going to work on the set.

    Thanks!

    Bob...
  • First let me preface this post by saying sorry for my pitiful scanning debris/streaks. Long story short, this scanner didn't wake my sick daughter who is finally getting a good night's rest. On to my the ripping...

Got nada on the pack of 1978 football.image

Best card of the two packs of 1977 baseball:

And then finally the 1982 vending.......BGTDimage

I'm incredibly excited to own this guy!

The vending box had it's ups and downs. Corner issues, one card was badly "dog-eared", and centering. My poor Yaz, and Yaz "In Action" suffered from some bad centering.

But still Had fun with the vending box. Will definitely consider buying another. Thanks again Bill for putting this together. Look forward to joining another group rip in the future.
  • Send me a PM
I have 5 packs to deal, including a Dorsett,
with a wax stain, that will be rubbed off, but it has a blue ink spot that will remain

All I want to keep are all the Steelers and possible Tony, depending on the offer.

    Looking for Steelers
  • 2nd page?

I ripped through 4 packs of 77's and my vending box yesterday. One of the '77 packs was pretty much toast with heavy corner damage to most of the cards in the pack. Only one star out of the 4 packs - Stargell, and it has a wax stain on the back. Not bad, but visible. I might have one or two commons worth subbing, but need to look closer. No Ripken, Ryan, or Hendersons out of my '82 vending. Quite a few HOF'ers though, but alot of the cards have some amount of corner dings or have centering issues. I still need to go through the box a second time and see if there are any low pop commons worth subbing.

I think they were all that way. My vending boxes all had damaged corners to about half the cards in each box. I just go lucky that all 3 of my Ripkens were in the middle of the boxes.

1978 Football - ouch. Almost everything is off center. 4 packs, 5 cards with good centering.
The Payton leader card is a gum card.

1977 Baseball - mostly off center, and some OPC-like rough cuts on the right side of most of the cards.

Here are the best of the commons:

    Daddy,

I'm guessing Bill got our Ripkens, because you didn't get one and I didn't get one in my box. Got mostly what you said above quite a few HOF'ers. I still had the best gift of all this week though. Nothing could dampen my spirits.

Nope, nothing compares to the birth of one of your children.

Glad things have settled down enough for you to rip through your box and once again CONGRATS. You're due for a good rip. Maybe next time.

Huge congrats, hope all are well
How do you have time to post?

Mknez - that Beniquez is a real low pop and yours look like a 9 to me. Sells for around $40, and that's in a down '77 market. Nice pull there
  • mknezmknez Posts: 1,992 ✭✭✭
Thanks for the info Hammer, I just scanned the best centered ones and the HOFers.

I just busted the 82 Topps vending box. I think Bill got my Ripken too. Not too mauch damage in the corners, centering all over the place, and did I mention, no Ripken?

I've had better group rips, but I'll be back!!!

The Theismann looks good if that is just a scanner flaw on the bottom edge.

Keep going, I want to see some stars after opening my packs!
