1820 c.2 small date bust half- difficult to find in MS

I recently bought an MS 62 from Mike at Whitlows. It is a vey nice example of the variety and correctly graded at MS 62. I think the image is still up at the site.

When researching the coin, I found that , as Mike indicated, there have been only 2 MS 62's auctioned in the last 10 years by Heritage, and Steve Hermmann shows only 1 O.103 and 1 O. 103a, graded 62 in his auction records. None finer!

PCGS pop reports show several have received higher grades, but I can find no record of sales, of any in grades above MS62.

Any one here aware of a 63, 64, or 65 being sold?

I have the Eliasberg, Pryor, Byers and Queller catalogs, and no example above AU was listed.

    TahoeDale, the only higher graded O.103 I have ever heard of is the 1820 O.103a that I was able to purchase from a very good friend. I believe you saw this coin at FUN, its graded PCGS 63 and I think it is pushing 64 on a good day. It apparently came in as a fresh purchase, over the counter, with an 1820 O.105a that subsequently graded PCGS 62, and is undergraded in my opinion. I was able to buy both of these and feel very fortunate to have done so. I guess I should start collecting 1820s by die variety! TomT.

    I have seen Tom's 1820, and it is a "Moose". However, it never made an auction, so it is a great hidden example.
