did any problems with spotting or any other problems exist in 1909 with the lincoln cents?
.......i keep reading how the mint will delay mint sets due to the tarnish problems of the 95% copper cents. i just wonder if the mint had a similar problem way back in 1909?...

I'm sure it also helped that they only had to make a few million coins verses the 3-4 BILLION they do today...
I once said spotting on the new $1's was rare. It was. I almost never saw it. Now I'm seeing it more, even in the mint sets.
<< <i>recently got some red white and blue wrapped denver mint washington $1's with spots on most of the coins in the rolls. there were over 10 over polished die coins in the 5 rolls I got but all had spots on both sides.

Looking at my Dansco album the cents from mint sets are getting a nice target toning where the proofs are getting ugly splotchy spots.
