Can someone explain to me how a DEADBEAT BIDDER can leave NEG/NEU feedback!?!?!

Sorry for the vent/rant.......just curious as to why Ebay would allow a deadbeat bidder who never consumated the transaction to be allowed to leave feedback on it??

Did you mutually cancel the deal?
Steve
Steve
The only way they can't is if they do not reply to the strike.
Steve
If the deadbeat bidder has enough strikes causing him/her to get Naru'd, the negative feedback will disappear.
PoppaJ
about buyers hence the feedback.

Better to just do a mutual cancellation.

<< <i>That is true too, however Ebay will cancel the first strike so in reality a person gets 4.

It probably is better if you dont want the neg feedback. Ebay has become a nightmare for sellers. The item strike is a joke. Like a slap on the wrist. While a non-paying bidder can leave bad feedback. Ebay needs to change this.
<< <i>Exactly, who would the buyers buy from if no sellers?
Steve >>
buy.com and sellers like them.
eBay cares not of the little seller.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
There are legit reasons that folks don't pay and such
folks can help the system by warning other buyers
via NEG FB.
I buy a card, but before I pay, I learn that the card is counterfeit.
I buy a card, but before I pay, somebody contacts me and tells
me that the seller sent them an empty envelope.
There are, obvioulsy, other good reasons not to pay.
Taking away my right to warn folks would be silly.

Strikes against buyers are a joke.
There is no point in filing them. They are EASILY removed.
The notion that "X-number of strikes" means you're NARU
is false. A slick buyer merely needs to know what words
to say to solve his problem, AND he can always open a
new account.
...........
Mutual-Cancellation agreements are risky. If the buyer
tells you he will agree AND then does not follow thru,
sellers cannot refile their NPB.
..........
More and more BIG sellers on EBAY are moving to Immediate
Payment Required. (Most use their own checkout platform.)
Once the infrastructure is in place, all sellers - BIN and auction -
will benefit from that scheme. AND, EBAY will be able to further
reduce the number of employees it needs to deal with NPBs.

EBAY FB Policy
eBay may remove Feedback ratings and/or comments that meet the guidelines outlined below.
Feedback ratings and comments may be removed in the following instances:
There is a violation of the Feedback Abuse policy.
A member is unable to form a legally binding contract at the time the item ended or Feedback was left.
A member provided eBay with an email address that is invalid and could not be contacted at the time of the transaction.
A member mistakenly leaves negative or neutral Feedback intended for another member, informs eBay of the error, and has placed the same Feedback for the correct member.
If a member is suspended by eBay, negative or neutral Feedback left by that member is removed. If a member is suspended within 90 days of registration, all Feedback is removed.
eBay is provided with a valid court order requesting Feedback Removal.
A buyer fails to respond to a reminder about an unpaid item.
When the buyer's communication within the Resolution Center undermines the purpose of the unpaid item process and the eBay Feedback system.
Customs Requirements
We will remove Feedback if the listing meets the Customs Requirements below and the seller receives a negative or neutral Feedback comment which references customs delays or customs fees.
The following text, or very similar text must be included in the listing and be:
In the format below
In a font size no smaller than the majority of the other text in the item description
Prominently displayed (in the upper half of the description, free-standing, etc.)
International Buyers – Please Note:
Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility.
Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying.
Other information a seller may wish to include:
These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up – do not confuse them for additional shipping charges.
We do not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as "gifts" - US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior.

for a dime isn't going to make ebay rich...find a buyer to buy it for 509 bucks and now you are talking...why would ebay want to protect you? They are offering
a service to you, there will be other sellers, buyers is what makes them money.
Kevin
Who will the ebay buyer buy his 500.00 card if no seller lists any?
Geez is that really that difficult?

That is correct in a free, open and competitive model.
You can prove that theory by looking at a failing mall.
First the sellers begin to disappear, then the buyers
vanish.
EBAY is a different kind of deal.
As a de facto "monopoly," they have virtually ZERO
competition in efforts to attract sellers.
The competition that EBAY faces is in the chase to
attract/keep BUYERS. They have no choice but to
advantage buyers over sellers. It is a life and death
battle, and EBAY could lose; but, they would definitely
lose if they focussed on keeping/helping small sellers.
JD said last month that EBAY will be the world's largest
online "outlet mall." Small sellers do not help him reach
that goal.

What I generally do is I file the NPB form and that usually makes the guy respond.
I think if after 7 days he does not respond to that you can get your fees back.
If he responds and no longer wants it simply ask him to do a mutual cancellation. That way you get your fees back and he has no need
to neg you.

<< <i>I had my first NPB for a $4.99 Mays portrait Exhibit card auction that ended on 8/5. I don't really know what to do, because I've already sent the guy two messages asking if he still wants the item, with no response. It appears he's made purchases since 8/5, so I guess I have no choice but to file an NPB in the near future? Advice? >>
///////////////////////////
Is it really worth risking a NEG, just to get a refund of your tiny FVFs?
I would wait him out, and then relist the item if he doesn't pay after a month.
Put the guy on your BBL.
....
Since it's vacation time, lots of folks simply forget to pay for small items
before they go out of town.
..................
Before I started using IPR on all my BINs, I waited about 30-days+ before
filing an NPB.
With IPR, I no longer have any risk of NPBs.
///////////////////////
BUT, a HUGE percentage of NPBs who agree to a MC, never
follow through with the agreement.
The seller is then unable to refile the NPB.
.......
If the FVF-amount is small, the risk/reward is simply no good on filing a NPB.

I only have 89 feedback, so in this ebay day and age, I certainly don't want to risk any undeserved neg feedback, you're right. So can I just relist the item without filing a NPB report, or do I file the NPB and just move on without leaving any feedback for the guy?
ebay i.d. clydecoolidge - Lots of vintage stars and HOFers, raw, condition fully disclosed.
I was just going by what I have done in the past and how it worked for me.
With my luck I'd relist it and the guy would see it and neg me for selling his card from underneath him.
Steve
that the guy was NOT going to pay.
In the summertime, I used to have TONS of folks
pay after 30-days had passed. When they paid,
they ALL said, "Sorry, I forgot to pay before I
went on vacation."
..........
Losing a few FVFs is just part of doing biz on EBAY.
With 89-FB, you cannot afford a NEG.
........
If you are doing BINs, just switch to IPR and you will
get paid immediately and NEVER have a NPB.
How much was the sale for?
If you don't mine me asking?

You file the NPB form and then when (if he replies) you ask the seller to mutually cancel the transaction.
if he fails to reply he can't leave feedback and you get your fees. If he replies then he does not get a strike.
That is what i was trying to say earlier.
Steve
bobbyw8469, what was the buyer's ID? I had a buyer who bought a Topps Gold lot from me, then bought an Alfonso Soriano Black, and right after the auction ended he told me he lost his job and can't pay for it. I check his feedback every once in a while, and he keeps bidding up a storm.
There may be scenarios where i may mutally agree to end the transaction........still no need for feedback.
