5k to my paypal address and its a done deal... >>
lol, I was kidding actually. I love ripping old stuff, but I don't think there is any way to recoup 10K out of that box if opened. Plus, I'd feel like throwing up if the bottom two cards all had bad gum bleed or something.
<< <i>Maybe bust one pack to see what the cards look like. If they are crap, just buy one PSA graded pack from Steve and replace the one you busted. >>
that actually sounds like a great idea. Going over the values. If all of the cards are really fresh and nicely centered, a few star 10's coud get the money back in a hurry. No telling what a Ryan or Aaron 10 would garner. Are the Banks and Yaz cards in that series too? What are the 4th series numbers?

The 71's dont have gum bleed
the 55's do...they were wet...
Fergie opened a 71 pack a week ago no major gum issues just a few oc cards...
Sometimes just owning one of the rarest unopened boxes of cards in the hobby is well enough
This box is definitely one to keep sealed...you just don't find intact original boxes from 1971 on the market..better to buy a couple graded packs to rip if you want to bust a few 71s. If you open a pack and replace it the box is no longer original.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
