Need advice on latest submission

I recently bought a 1986 JORDAN #57 rookie psa mint 9 off ebay. After i received it i cracked it out of the case and re-sended it to psa in hopes of a better grade. I thought it had a shot at a 9.5. Just found out today they wouldnt grade it because of evidence of trimming. Why would psa first grade the card a 9, then turn around and say it was trimmed? I'm very disappointed. What should i do?

Neither PSA or the seller will do anything, because you cracked it out. Just because you have the original label doesn't mean anything. In their eyes, you could have easily switched the cards out, inserted a trimmed card into the mix and try to pull one over on them.
Just sub and resub and hope they made a mistake. If that doesn't work, sub to beckett and then sell to recoup some of your losses.
Good Luck!!!
<< <i>Being someone who sub'ed a pack fresh Jordan rookie and it first came back EOT - I can feel your pain... but cracking a PSA 9 Jordan and hoping for the bump is kind of crazy. I would keep subbing the card till it comes back in a holder - I hope you are able to get it back into a PSA 9 slab.
Good Luck!!! >>
Wow. If you sent a pack fresh card, how in the world did it come back a trimmed card? This is what i dont understand about grading companies? If i send the card to beckett it will probably come back trimmed as well if psa did the same thing. I thought i was purchasing a good card when i bought a graded psa? Looks like i was wrong. I dont understand how it could come back trimmed when they graded it in the first place. Maybe its a wiwag card i dont know? Only thing i know i'm out $1100. I guess i will re-sell it raw so at least i'll get some of my money back. Thanks psa for the screw job.
I personally don't believe anyone with common sense would be foolish enough to crack a PSA 9 Jordan rookie. If you did, you got what you deserve.

Can you post the EBAY listing number?
Can you post a scan of the card from the listing?
<< <i>Post a pic of the card. Or even show the Pop of them saying it was trimmed. Maybe we can help with that info. >>
Yep i sure will. As soon as i get the card back from psa i will post it. I just found out about the grade tonight when i got the email from psa. I paid for 5-day express and they recieved it last thurdsay on the 30th. Which means i should be getting the card back today, unless psa doesnt keep to their word when it comes to turn-around?
No offense, but if you were foolish enough to crack a psa 9 jordan rookie, you sort of deserve it. It isn't anybody screwing you out of anything.

Wow, you have some reading to do. PSA's 5 day guarantee does not include the day it was entered into the system, any weekend days, and certainly no shipping days. The only guarantee is that the grade will be available online in 5 business days. This is all spelled out in their literature.
Still haven't posted the auction where you bought the PSA 9 originally....
Call me skeptical.
Vegas was built on guys like you. Re-sub and mark this experience up to lessons learned. Sorry to rag on you and I do wish you well, but think before for you act, do your research and you'll be much better off. I wish you luck in getting the Jordan back in a PSA 9 holder. Tony
it appears you did not hover and learn by reading several thousand other posts here before making a move, as so many others have done.....on the bright side, another attempt at grading and perhaps a brief discussion with Joe O, if possible, may help you get that card back into a 9 holder where it belongs.....it seems like you have something to prove your contentions, so don't let it slip away without a fight.
good luck.
Yes, this wasn't the brightest of moves.
In the future, first consult the board and then act. There is an abundance of knowledge here.
Keep subbing.
Best of luck.

You're kind of missing the whole point. Alot of people crack out cards and re-send in hoping of better grades. And all of the other grading companies do have a grade between 9 and 10. Psa does not but i still shouldve gotten the 9 grade that it deserved. Or at the very least an 8.5. The issue here is how can psa grade a card one time, then come back trimmed the next? Mystery to me??

It's called subjectivity. A 9 today could be an 8 tomorrow and a 10 next week. Those are the risks you take as a submitter by sending
in cards for grading. You need to buy a 10x loupe and screen your cards better. Maybe you had a very borderline 9 to begin with or a card that was given the benefit of the doubt the first time it was graded. If it was graded by a pickier grader this time, it might have looked trimmed. Who knows.
You should have scanned the card in the PSA 9 holder for your records before cracking it and resubmitting it. Then you could post it here to back up your complaints against PSA.
The way it appears now, it's all rumours and speculation. Let's see the original auction you won. Until you post that, I'm skeptical of your accusations.
I dont collect basketball cards but even I knew that the Fleer Jordan rookies have been coming back from PSA as trimmed more than most other cards. Resubmitting will more than likely give you your grade but I have to say, without a ebay auction ID or a scan I am calling BS on this one.
I'm trying to say this respectfully. First off, you purchased an expensive high grade card. When you purchased the card you knew it was a special card because of what you had to pay for it. You then cracked the holder open because you know that 10's are worth big money. But you actually thought that you might get a 9.5 or better. The grade does not even exist. When you popped the card out of the holder it got the dreaded EOT. You were surprised. You have a right to be dissapointed but not surprised. Many of us on these boards have had this happen a few times. With all of this--I'm trying to say "Monitor these boards before making large purchases and cracking slabs." You seem like a beginning collector. This is way over your head for a beginner. Start with smaller collectibles. A PSA 9 Jordan is over a grand. This can be a nightmare hobby for the uninformed or inexperienced collector who dabbles in high end collectibles. Even the best of us are dissapointed numerous times.=====Now my hope statement- "Resub the card as it might work out for you" Don't be surprised if it comes back an 8. You may have to be patient. I hope this works out for you, and I hope you take my comments as constructive criticism and not bashing. I contact members regularly for their knowledge on certain issues as we all don't know everything. There's an advanced collector in most areas of cards on these boards. One more thing. What service did you use? regular, express? Good luck.
Thanks,
Mickey71

Thanks for the encouragement. I have been a psa/sgc Baseball/football card collector for almost 30 years. But this is the first time i have ever purchased an expensive basketball card. So i will admit, i did not know about the 86 fleer eot problems. I bought a graded card so i didnt think it would come back trimmed. I used express grading. I also contacted Joe orlando and requested to get the card re-evalueated. Left a message on his voice mail so i am waiting for a call-back.

So this person knows about Wiwag yet does not know the dangers in cracking a Mint 9 hi dollar card?
Something not right.
Steve
Our OP joined in July and had ample time to look at all our threads. Something smells funny here.
Could be wrong but 30 years of collecting and he busts PSA 9 Jordan hoping for a grade that doesn't exist. If he knew about the 1/2 grade bump, he knew he could send it in the holder for review without any risk. I need more info please.
"I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
Yeah but they don't crack out Mint 9's!
Steve
lol

If it walks like a...smells like a...looks like a...Wow must be some style of BS Scam. Guy's been asked several times for info and hasn't come across with anything.
Carol can we get a Poof ?

<< <i>Was this your first submission to PSA? >>
Yes its my first submission to psa. Thats why i only have like 9 posts because i just bought the $99 membership fee last week. I understand why some on here might think i am trying to pull something, but i'm not. I used to send all my subs to sgc but they lost my business because imo grade too strict. I contacted joe this morning and left a message. He never returned my call. Some of you guys have been helpful and is really appreciated. But i would like an answer from psa explaining why the card i bought is trimmed but psa slabbed?
<< <i>But i would like an answer from psa explaining why the card i bought is trimmed but psa slabbed? >>
If the PSA slab you bought wasn't tampered with when you bought it, then one of the following two scenarios comes into play:
a) they made a mistake the first time and graded a bad card
b) they made a mistake this time, and didn't grade a good card
I doubt you'll get a "sorry" call. The best you could do would be to ask for them to look at it again.

Is it possible that the card is one of those craigslist cards? I don't remember seeing any jordan rc cards in those fake holders but you never know.
<< <i>I think Steve's right. Hard to believe somebody would use "wiwag" and not know that PSA is returning a lot of 86 jordans as EOT and that PSA doesn't have a 9.5

What the heck is "wiwag"???

Thank you for asking, I was wondering the same thing.
My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Its one of two things going on here.
#1 OP is giving a BS story in hopes of fetching a sucker sale for a bogus Jordan.
#2 OP is the absolute stupidest 30 year collector on the planet for cracking a Mint 9 Jordan.
I can't hardly believe ANYBODY in their right mind would crack an $1,100 Mint 9 Jordan RC. (My apologies to your lack of gray matter if you did) Nobody can be that dumb can they? Can They?
I tend to believe #1 is more likely.

I do too, and I make some wild and CRAZY-stupid bets on LOTS of stuff.
BUT, knowing what I know about the subject card, there is NO way I
would crack it. (I would send it for a review, but not raw.)
........
The fact that the OP has not
posted the EBAY listing number;
posted a scan of the card from the listing;
posted the lingo from the online poppage message;
causes me to believe that he is simply a PSA-basher,
who has likely passed this way before.

ON ITS WAY TO NEWPORT BEACH, CA 92658
Only after I tried that and I still felt strongly would I crack and try it.
If it then came back EOT I'd simply re sub until it got holdered.
I would NOT say anything here about it.
