I had the first part of the code and had figured out the L cards very early on but had never realized that each of the cards had colors...something so simple
huh. Its sad that we never got some brains together here, oh well.

Congrats to that duo for Breaking the Code. Very cool that they were able to do it with Ebay scans, largely. It does seem significantly more complicated this year...but persistence and fresh thinking helped break them through. Cool stuff -- very fascinating to read through the explanation.

I've been slowly chugging along with my case - three boxes left to open. I opened 8 boxes prior to my case, so my haul will eventually be 20 hobby boxes total. 17 boxes in, and my best pulls have all been rip cards (I think) - I've managed three of them, the best being an AJ Burnett 10/10 that I pulled last night. I also pulled a red ink auto of the female discus champion, a couple of bazookas, and three or four no number minis. The prospect of sorting everything is daunting at this point, so I think I'll just enjoy the last few boxes. Hopefully I'll have a trade list up soon enough to join the fun...

i think the extincts and inventions will pan out just like the planes/sharks last year. very few per case, but enough in retail that we'll all be able to complete our sets easy enough.

Wow, the code has been solved and I haven't even received my cards yet. Thanks Topps (I'm assuming this is a Topps issue and not a Lockwood issue). Anyone have any recent Lockwood updates? He sent me an email last Thursday saying that they had not left Topps factory yet and he was hoping to get an update from Topps yesterday (Monday).

Picked up 6 blasters yesterday from Target (Wal-Mart had none) I must say I was pretty dissapointed in them. One thing I did notice was that all the minis I pulled were A&G backs unless they were shortprints(301-350), black borders, or inserts. Again though I noticed a trend of poor quality control throughout. I think tonight I'm going to go through all the cards I've busted so that I can ship them back to Topps with a little nastygram attached.

I finally picked up my first packs of '09 at the Fans Edge show in Chicago last weekend buying 3 Hobby packs for $10 from a dealer. In my first pack of '09 I pulled this:

My first Bazooka ever. Needless to say I was pretty happy so the next day I bought a few more packs and an unopened box. Unfortunately I didn't get much else in the rest of the stuff I opened. The box just had Sizemore, Rollins, & Miguel Cabrera jerseys. I'll have a trade list up soon.

One more thing, like some have mentioned I saw very poor quality control in the packs from the unopened box. Several of my minis are either creased, dented, dinged, and take a look at these two:

Those came out of the pack that way. You can't really tell from the scan, but the edges look serrated like a steak knife. I probably won't worry about sending these back to Topps, not really worth the trouble.

OK. Allen & Ginter rookie here.

Bought a couple of blaster boxes at target, and interested in more.

Someone help me out with what is good and what's not. No game used, numbered, or ink in my boxes, but what should I be looking for?

How many parallel's are there of the mini's? Here's what I got in one box.

Are there regular minis that are easy to get, mini's with allen & ginter on the back that are a little bit harder, black bordered mini's that are harder than that, and then bazooka mini's which I didn't get??????????

What's with the mini's that are states and countries?????????????

What about the base cards?? Anything over 300 an SP??????

Again, I know you guys are well in to this and I'm just a beginner, but love the looks of these cards and will probably buy more. Need some help on what to look for. I've been trying to follow along, but need some help.

I realize I am jumping in on a thread with many responses but was wondering, without having to read thru the entire thread what the answer is to the following questions: I am going to purchase a case of A&G, should I purchase a case of the blaster boxes (16 boxes, etc), an eight box retail case (8 boxes with 6 cards each box from my understanding) or should I open the bank account and purchase a 12 box case, from which each pack contains 8 cards, again from what my understanding of this new product is??? Help me decide. thanks al.

If you're looking for potential big hits then I would do a hobby case. If you're just looking to build some mini sets and have some minis to trade then I would do a blaster case.
