SOLD OUT NOW, but I will do this again soon, probably!
Random giveaway won by Tbirde56!
I have too many coins here. WAY too many coins.
It's time to clear out some of them and get more of the others attributed, graded, priced, and in holders, etc.
D'you feel lucky? Feel like gambling a tiny bit? Or, as they used to say here in the Old South, do you wanna "buy a pig in a poke"?
Translation: to buy a pig in a poke means you're buying him sight-unseen in a sack. Which is usually not a good practice, unless you get lucky and there is a real pretty prize pig in the sack. But I digress- we're talkin' coins, not pigs, here. Absolutely no pigs are involved. Here's what I propose.
Send me $10 ($11 outside North America), and I will send you a random package.
In that package there will be a group of coins (say, 7-10 pieces or so) that should have a total retail value of roughly $18-20, maybe more. (Remember, you're getting free shipping, too). Some of these groups have BU coins and/or silver, a few toned coins are in the mix, and a few packages have 19th century coins. Most of the coins will be 20th century world coins, but there will be a few US coins as well. With the exception of maybe one or two of the BU Wheat cents that are in each package, nothing should have an individual retail value below a dollar. Generally speaking, the individual coins should be worth about $1-15 each, and I saw one or two that were $20-25+ catalog value coins but for a very minor issue which reduced the price accordingly. There should be no duplicates within each lot, either.
I've tried to take the gambling out of these and assemble you some very nice "grab bag" style lots. Hopefully these will be a win-win: I will get to clear out some excess inventory quickly and you will get some nice coins on the cheap. In fact, I guarantee your satisfaction, so you aren't "buying a pig in a poke" at all- if for any reason you are displeased, just let me know and I'll make it good. (I seriously doubt this will be necessary, however.)
I have assembled a dozen of these lots and sealed them into 6x9 bubble mailers, weighed them, and put stamps on them so all I have to do is address 'em and pop 'em in the mailbox. Now that they are sealed, not even I know what you'll be getting.
So there it is. $10 grab bags, anyone?
Oh, is that too rich a gamble for you? OK, fine. Let's make it even more interesting.
Into one of these twelve packages I have placed a $35.00 Roman Imperial coin in addition to the $18-20+ worth of coins that were already in there.
It comes in the original Civitas Galleries flip (insert not shown to scale in the scans):

So if you buy one package, the chances are one in twelve that you are going to do VERY well for your ten bucks, and get over $50 worth of stuff. And if all twelve packages sell, as I expect them to do quickly, there is a 100% chance somebody is going to get that nice package!
You say it's not really a "giveaway" if there is a purchase required? Well, yeah, it is a giveaway, pretty much, but you have a point.
So in addition to the chance to win the Roman coin which every purchaser gets, I am also doing a random giveaway with no purchase necessary. Just post ONCE to this thread and I will use a random number generator to see who wins a pair of ancient Chinese cash coins.
I think you'll have fun with these. I've found the grab bag thing to be fun in the past, but they were cheaper ($3) bags before. Naturally, there is a little bit better material in these $10 packages. And if this works, I might do it again to clear out some more stuff later.

This blowout is all blown out, now!
But they went as fast as I had hoped, so I think this was a success. And hopefully those of you who bought the bags will agree (if not, just LMK).
This means I almost certainly will make up another round of these before long.
Oh, Walmann, you missed by less than two minutes! And dizzlecc less than that, I reckon. But as I mentioned via PM, I will be happy to make up an $18-20-ish bag for y'all. It just won't contain that Roman coin, obviously.
THANKS, everybody!
I will probably do this again soon. I have zillions more coins where these came from. Just gotta sort 'em and put 'em in holders.
We'll let the Chinese coin giveaway run a bit longer.

This will be a fun thread to watch!
Anybody else want to get in on the random giveaway portion before I wrap that one up?

Really, there a lots of coin collections I'd like to see here but Rob is one I'd like to meet the person behind the coins. I like the way you've impulse sealed the 2x2 mylars and the nicely done labels. I also wouldn't mind copying your display cases (my venture into selling coins at the antique mall met with shoplifting and wasn't what I was hoping for).
Thanks for the coins,
Dave

Nice! You got your $10 back with the Cuban silver. Everything else is gravy!!

Sadly, I no longer find the time to do that anymore. It's a pity, because it was nice to do 'em all up like that. That was back in 2006 when I did most of my world coin stock that way.
If anybody hasn't received their packages by Monday, please PM me.
There are two left here which I surmise are for folks who sent snailmail payment (I confess I've lost track of whose were shipped and whose weren't, and I will have to sort that out upon my return Monday. I am going to the NC mountains over the weekend to be reunited with my firstborn son, who is now 18 years old (I have not seen him since he was 4).
I accidentally shipped one person a single package instead of the two he bought, but the second one will be on its way Thursday.
I hear canadacolornut got the Roman coin.
When I come back home and return to the forums, I'll draw the remaining giveaway winner.
Though I still have too many coins here, I bought a small lot of inexpensive 19th century coins from ajaan recently and have a pending trade with Filamcoins for some others that included many inexpensive BU pieces, so some of those items might find their way into the next round of "pig in a poke" packages. I think the next round of packages might also include some inexpensive PCGS slabbed coins- at least one or two.
