Blaster box - where did that term come from?

just curious how the term "blaster" came about for those 7-8 pack "boxes" you can get at Target and Walmart?

Good question. Maybe Wal Mart marketing? Why do they always say you get a free pack. They are 7+1 or 9+1. If the bonus is in all of them, it is not a bonus.

Blisters are the single or double pack hanging packages that are cardboard backed, with a clear plastic shell protecting the packs. I think they get the name because the shell sticks out like a "blister."

Blasters were probably a marketing ploy/play on words from the already established blister terminology.

I always assumed it's because it's a small amount of packs, you blast right through them

I think we are all familiar with that term and its origin. But, what about the original question about "blaster" boxes. I am thinking it may have been a term cooked up by Wal Mart. I remember seeing full retail boxes with cellophane still on them and they had stickers to open and display for individual pack sales. I think some employees were opening the 8 pack boxes for pack sales as well. They eventually put the giant yellow or pink sticker on them that says something along the lines of "BLASTER BOX- DO NOT OPEN- FULL BOX SALES ONLY- 7 PACKS PLUS A BONUS PACK- ONLY $19.99"

I think, I could be wrong, it was from the blister pack that the blaster was born.

duh, because after plunking down a large chunk of cash, opening them and getting squat, you wanna BLAST someone in the face with your wal-mart shotgun

Could be, from what I hear, the packaging of those packs....they blast out the good ones and leave those in the box
