Who are the Go-To Specialist Collectors on this Forum?

MidLifeCrisisMidLifeCrisis Posts: 10,550 ✭✭✭✭✭
Some of the specialist dealers are well known on this forum...and I have an idea of who some of the collectors are that specialize in a particular numismatic area...

But which collectors would you go to for advice in a particular series or collecting interest?

Name the forum member and series/area

MFH (Mike Hayes) for Barber halves, without hesistation - probably one of the most knowledgeable around in that series. I've lost track of how many sets he has built. And he is very sharing with his knowledge as well.

DennisH for Morgan Dollar VAMs - another great guy.

SuperTooth (Bob) for walkers - I've told people he probably knows even more than I do - and he is one of the few people in the country that I would give that credit to. And like Mike and Dennis, a great guy to converse with.

Barndog for bust half dimes - probably unrivaled in that series - and again, a helpful and friendly guy.

I'm sure I'm missing some others I've corresponded with - this forum is LOADED with sharp and knowledgeable collectors.

I will add liefgold as a very learned specialist on Gold Dollars. His insight and assistance has been most helpful to me.
  • Russ for Kennedy halves
    LucyBop for Frankies
    LeeG for Lincolns and Commems
Longacre and DaveG for New Orleans gold
    Dahlonega for Dahlonega gold
    Gecko for Pandas
    fc for Liberty half eagles
    Fletcher for Fugios

Oops, those guys don't post here much (if at all) any more.

That leaves us with Dizzy for whatever he is currently collecting and ambro for gold dollars.

Very nice guy. Went out of his way to send me some information on Buffalos without me asking. I then later purchased his book on Buffalo Abraded Die Varieties. Very good book with lots of information. He has been studying Buffalos longer than myself and most of my older siblings have been on this gracious green earth. Nothing but great words for this man!

MadMarty for Kennedy's as well as Russ

SaintGuru for his name sake series

    Sunnywood for Morgan toners
There are a number of top notch Morgan VAM specialists such as Coxe.

RYK used to be active in circulated gold, but is hiatus

    ColonialCoinUnion for colonials

    Pistareens for his namesake

Bear and Roadrunner are both top notch numismatists, and would likely give some of the specialists a run for their money.

If you have a question about
    (1) how to ask a question,
    (2) how to phrase the question using the words "frothy frenzy" somewhere in the question, and/or
    (3) putting the question in the third person,

then, Longacre is definitely your expert! imageimageimage

Nutz4coins for type B quarters and Morgans.

A few very astute members that have not been mentioned. They may not post much and be part of the gang, but when they do folks should listen very carefully.

Draped and Capped Bust halves...... Nysoto, Slumlord, OKBustchaser, and that Jrocco guy is sharp as well.
Please... Save The Stories, Just Answer My Questions, And Tell Me How Much!!!!!
  • <<Jrocco>>

    One of the best!

Also, I will throw my name into the hat for New Orleans material. While Im not up to par with some like RYK, DaveG, Longrace, RWB, and some others, I feel I klnow a very good amount about these coins minted in N.O. image
