I collect these ... by the way, neither coin has a mintmark, and both are PCGS MS66 ... yep, that's an 1879-P in 66 !! These are my own bad images with a hand-held camera ... wait til I get real images of that 1879 !!!
I have two collections underway......#1 is error coins (which will never be complete), and #2 is Morgan Dollars. As for Morgans, I like them all - toned, blast white, PL, DMPL!
"In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation [...] Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property rights." - Alan Greenspan
I'm an equal opportunity Morgan man, however I have not been able to get all that excited about VAMs unless its obvious enough to be considered a variety.
I got into VAMs when I hit the stoppers in the set (94P, 93S, 95P, the only coins I need to complete the set). Started into VAMs in late 2006. Now have hundreds (no duplicates) ranging from common VAMs to some really pricey, desirable VAMs. Even have 20+ discoveries of my own! VAMs are a great way to continue collecting when you hit the stoppers, plus the thrill of the hunt really adds to the experience.

From the polls, many here aren't to fond of the Morgan and Barber Laddie Liberties. I actually think the Barber obverse is quite a handsome guy!
A quick Google search indicates Laddie Liberty and Liberty Laddie may be a newly coined terms!
