anyone else notice a problem with the new PSA slabs?

My recent subs from PSA are encased in more flexible plastic. The cases used to "snap together" when piled up; now, the cases sort of waver along the edges and they don't attach solidly.

Carol?

They Kind of have like an accordion effect to them.

Edited to add: With your thread title, carol may never even look inside this thread. Maybe "anyone else notice this about the newer PSA slabs lately" Or something along those lines.

yeah, I noticed that too. Maybe they're using recycled material from old junk slabs.

they look the same, they just don't stack anymore - edges are thinner or something

I hope they now shatter, if they are tampered with.

Anyone from the PSA staff care to enlighten us on this change? I'm one of the collectors that likes to stack, and if slabs are now going to be made so that's no longer possible, I for one won't like that too much.

I just got a few back from PSA and I don't notice anything different.

I spoke with operations and they are aware that there are some holders with a wobble and they are looking in to it.
They wanted to pass along that while they may have a wobble, the integrity of the holder remains regarding seal, etc.

As someone who got burned by a crack and switch. The integrity of the holders can be improved to make it more tamper evident.

Can't go more than ~25 high or they'll fall over.

Sounds like a challenge! Better yet, a contest!

Ya, I too have noticed the accordian effect when stacked... just didn't put much thought into it.
I rarely stack mine that high anyway. I store mine in cases, so it never really bothered me.

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!

well i found out that the corners snap pretty easy. opened a returned sub and one fell about 2 feet on to the basement slab. nice frosty corner now.

Yes. I have noticed this. My cards seem to tilt like a Jenga game when I stack them up. I am no expert on plastic, but it appears as though PSA is not using as high a material as they used in the past.

Since Obama is in the mood to "fix" everything, maybe he can fix this while he's at it.
