83-84 OPC Hockey Set Factory Sealed - Value??

I have an 83-84 OPC Factory Sealed Hockey set. The set box itself is not sealed but the cards inside the set are all sealed in plastic. Anyone have an idea of what the value may be?

Thanks,

Paul

The last couple on ebay non-factory sets sold for about $80-100.

Thanks Beck6. Any idea what the market value for a factory set is?
  • I have never heard of a factory set where the cards were wrapped in plastic. Is that how OPC factory sets came?

I am pretty sure there was factory sets for 86 through the end but not earlier.

  • I know that they used to shrink wrap sets when they sent them to the dealers. I bout a 1982 OPC set like that about six months ago and there was no real premium for it. Let me know if you want to sell it as I am beginning this set in the set registry.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I purchased a hockey collection from an elderly gentleman and this set has all the cards shrink wrapped in plastic. None of the other sets were like this so I assumed the set was shrink wrapped at the factory. As I went through the sets and commented on how the 83-84 set was a factory set he didn't say it wasn't or that he did it but maybe he shrink wrapped the cards. The cards appear to be Mint and never handled.
  • Back in the 80's ~ Dealers would occasionally sell sets shrink wrapped just for for the added protection.

The first OPC Hockey Factory Sets began with the 1987-88 series ..........

The 1988-89 Factory (Brett Hull yr) is extremely scarce and an excellent buy if you can find one.

When I bought my 1984 Donruss Baseball set, the inside cards were wrapped in cellophane in groups of 50 or so. Not that they stayed that way for more than a few minutes after I got them, mind you....
