Time for a giveaway...or maybe a giveback. And the winner is:

Lots of guesses! The winner is the member who guessed closest to the birth year of my father's father.
Henry Webster Keigwin (grandpa) was born Aug 6, 1855. JupitarCoins was closest with "1865". Congrats!
I would like to give away two more of these lovely coins as consolation prizes.
One to the guy who inadvertently guessed my father's birth year (1904, Lloyd Denslow Keigwin Sr.): papabear
And another to the worst guess of all (1932): MrSpud (Huh? 1932 for the grandfather of a guy who's been collecting for 50 years?)
JupitarCoins, papabear, and MrSpud -- please PM me with your names and postal addresses.
P. S. I inherited many of Grandpa's coins when his widow died 20+ years later and passed them along. I was a boy of 7 and fascinated by US coins I never knew existed, especially the silver three cent pieces.

Thanks, everyone, for a wonderful first year here. I've been a coin fan for almost 50 years but I think I learned more in one year her than in the other 49.
So a "giveback" is more appropriate than a giveaway.
Some friends of mine live in a very remote area of northern California called Forks of Salmon. I admire them. They live off the land, raise farm animals (they name but must slaughter for food), are off-grid in every sense, but love this country to death.
Their unusual community decided to produce some lovely silver coins, for use (at melt value) in local commerce. Even though the minting makes this a losing proposition they embraced the notion and had 2500 of these .999 silver coins produced. I acquired a few.
The winner of this contest will receive one of these coins. Tying winners will each receive one (but only the first three ties...I don't have many!).
Contest rules? Guess the birth year of my paternal grandfather, who influenced my love for coins.
If no one guesses correctly then the closest guess wins.
Contest ends Friday, 6PM PST.
