I Requested Seller If I Can Examine 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 6 In Person (BIN Of $8,999.00)

Up for auction is a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 6 with a BIN price of $8,999.00. If legitimate, it would obviously be an absolutely fantastic deal. The seller is in Pomona, which isn't too far from where I live. I emailed the seller inquiring if we could schedule a meeting so that I can examine the card in person. I suspect that ...

1. He won't respond;
2. He will provide some reason why an in person examination is not possible; or
3. Someone will hit the BIN for $8,999.00 before he is able to respond.

That sure is some tight croppage! I vote for #2.

I'd be careful about walking around with that card in Pomona.

    Except for

    the horrible crop and

    the screwy-sounding lingo and

the multiple sales of instruction sheets on how to search packs at Target and

the sale of stuff that has ZIP to do with cards,

I see no huge red flags.

    .....

PayPal will now hold payments, if the same is requested by the buyer before payment.

(My neighbor bought a bracelet from a seller who was not subject to the automatic
PayPal 21-day hold. He called PP and explained that he was "nervous" about the
payment and they agreed to hold the payment. It was only $3K. When PP was told
the item had arrived, they released the money to the seller.) Sounds like a violation
of escrow regs, but they did it.

Good play on seeing it in person. You might also request a new scan of the front and back with the edges of the holder visible.

That card was just sold on Huggins & Scott's auction last week! Good on you for figuring out the guy was a scammer.
