That bidder is buying most of the high end patterns tonight.

Laura uses her same trademark bidder number at all the major auctions. That number is not "50". Dealers who know her or have seen her in action at an auction will definitely know what number that is.

    Hmm, could be...

No, I think we'll have to build a supercomputer to
come up with the question. What shall we call it??

    ...I know, how about "Earth"??

There is another dealer whose trademark bidder number is "666" and it is not Laura nor Bear.

"42" is not the number that she uses and that is the simple truth.

Sorry man, we were just funnin' ya.

The whole "42" thing comes from "The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy"
by Douglas Adams. We could have went on like this for hours, and none
of it would make any sense at all to someone not familiar with the work.

    Please, carry on.

    That's what I figured. Unfortunately I haven't read or seen "Hitchiker's...".

FWIW, I was in the auction room and Laura was indeed the "successful" bidder on most of the high end patterns. I was forced to settled for scraps.

She's probably not buying for inventory.

Laura used bidder number 20 in a major 2005 auction. I was writing down bidder names & numbers for that sale (most of the action was in the room) and she was one of the hardest to figure out - sitting at the front of the room and using quite subtle signals. She had to buy about half a dozen things before I caught it.

Haven't paid attention to what number she is using lately.

Legend's permanent bidder number is 8. 50 is Legend's client who is building a huge pattern set. He purchased the bulk of that $30M+ deal a few years ago.

You know how to build a $100M+ collection, don't you? Start with $200M in patterns! image

Anyone who didn't know about Jackie Robinson would think all of Major League Baseball was totally into Douglas Adams.

    Yes, well...

I guess you are not very familiar with the Douglas Adams books.
