What's up with this card?

I was doing my nightly search of Roy Campanella cards on eBay and came across this rookie. How did this card get a 9 with the right side damage?

That has to be something on the scanner or a booger on the slab. No way that is on the card.

Almost looks like a drop of water or something.

    I think it's a scratch/scuff on the slab.

If it's a scratch on the case, why wouldn't the seller same something? For a 6K sale you would think they would give you as much info as possible.

    Agreed.

Also, it definitely looks like it's on the card to me.

That's gotta be on the card. Seller has to say something about that in the listing... or stay the hell away.

I think it's on the card as well. It doesn't affect the plastic insert at all, just the card, so I don't think it's on the slab.
