The real S mintmark has a die chip inside the upper loop. This one doesn't.

Counterfeit mintmark. This side by side comparison may help. Real one on the left, fake one on the right. Notice how the serifs on the S are nearly parallel on the real one.
I think it's a 1909-P VDB with an added S if not a total fake. The S is the wrong style for an S VDB, the VDB looks real but it's the dot location for a P not an S.
VDB dot location on 1909-P VDB and 1909-S VDB is different:
A real S VDB has an S with serrifs that are almost parallel with the sides of the S (the lower serif should not extend beyond it) and there's a chip/bump in the upper loop (didn't catch it well in this pic).
The S used on 1909-S VDB cents:
Fake S (added S) on a 1909-P VDB. (looks a lot like yours)
wow my thanks to everyone who responded and gave me a good education.Never would have known about the position of the dots on V.D.B. s cents and the s itself.

Do you mean an added mintmark, or an outright fake mintmark?

<< <i>Not an expert ...but I don't like the ends of the mint mark "S" and left portion of "B" in VDB
Both stood out to me as well. The B jumped out more for me than the S though.
