I'm almost embarassed to ask this, but I have a question about the First Spouse Bronze Medals...
Perhaps it is a sign of the deep and dark numismatic recession that we are in, but I was just on the US Mint website checking out not the First Spouse gold coins, but rather the bronze medals. I am embarassed to admit that I have some questions on these, but hopefully someone will be able to help:
(1) I could not find the 2007 medals at the US Mint site. I assume they're sold out. What is the best place to find these? Ebay?
(2) I can buy the 2008 medals as a single package, or individually. The single package seems to house the medals in flexible mylar, which I really don't like. I cannot seem to find how the individual option is packaged. Does anyone know if the individual medals come in a hard case, or are they in the mylar packaging, too?
(3) It looks like for 2009, only the Harrison medal is available right now. Is that correct?
PS. Please do not tell RYK (remember him?) that I asked these questions.

Have no answers just making it more likely that if RYK checks in the post is prominent.
2. I've never purchased the individual medals, but I would guess they come in the same mylar packaging. For the $3.50 they ask, I can't imagine they would offer anything more elaborate than that.
3. Not sure of the release schedule, but I would think that with 2 Tyler medals, at least one of them should be out soon.
FYI - Whitman makes an album for the medals, which may be a nice alternative to keeping them in the mylar packaging. I got one earlier in the year (which is why I was looking for a second 2007 set, I wanted to keep one as-is and break open the other for the album). The only problem is that they only have a spot for one of Tyler's wives. Not a big deal, but just thought I'd point it out in case you were looking to do this.

How much does that album cost?
first spouse album
If you are still looking to sell your extra 2007's I'd be interested in a set.

Individual medals come in a mylar envelope with US MINT embossed on the heat sealed edges. I bought this one in 07 to check them out. Havent bought any since, but I like the classic designs they're using on the unmarried prez's.

So if I tell him do you think he will come back?
<< <i>Wherever he is, I am sure that RYK is appalled. What next, Chuck E. Cheese tokens?
I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, but the last time we took the kids there, I found myself looking at the dates on the tokens. I take comfort in the fact that at least I didn't start searching for die varieties...
Very interesting question you pose here. I don't dabble in that area. Is RYK now formerly excessively prominent?
It is sort of unfortunate that one feels ashamed, even in a non-serious humourous way, that one asks questions about these. Ah, the uncomfort of the elite.

I actually have begun this. Mostly die chips, etc.
Like any proper gentleman, Longacre is embarrassed to ask questions in public about other gentlemen's wives.

I was going to do the "movie star" approach and send a check, hoping that given the famous Longacre signature, she would simply hold the check and not cash it. However, I thought the better and wired the funds via Paypal.
