"This product is temporarily unavailable" is currently posted on the Mint website for these.

What does that mean? I don't recall seeing this posted on mint products, usually they go into b/o status then sold out (BTW, these were b/o'd within 45 minutes of availability...).

Do you suppose they are making more bags up with excess "stockpiled"?

It says temporarily unavailable so I'm sure it'll come back. The curiosity is why it went to this status after only one day. Are the sales white hot or did they just have insufficient inventory. Why not just keep taking orders since customers know it could be months before orders are fulfilled?

I think the 1000-coin Denver bags are sold out. The backordered date is slipping (yesterday was 6/11, today is 6/12). These are done!

Keep in mind, according to USM coin production figures, there had only been minted 19- 20 M Guam "D" Quarters and 27 - 28 M Guam "P" Quarters through the end on April, 2009. How many were made in May, 2009 ? Any members visit either mint in May, 2009 and can tell us what territorial quarter was being minted ? You have to be "Sherlock" to stay ahead of the mintage game !!

Both P and D 1000-coin bags are now temporarily unavailable. I think the Mint got swamped with orders.

When did they release the Guam quarter?

I went to the Philly mint last week and they still had the PR quarters in the change machine there. I'll have to go back for Guam I suppose...

The Mint probably wasn't ready for all these orders so soon. But because of the low mintage figures of the PR quarters compared with the past 10 years then folks jumped all over these.

There a hand full of state quarter/territorial quarter dealers Big, Big Dealers that are buying most of these 1,000 coin quarter bags immediately once the USM offers them. I would like to talk to a Denver and PA Mint employee during each month to be informed as to which terr. quarter issue is actually being minted as each week passes. You would have a great idea of the scarcity of each issue early on. Just a thought.... Mark.

Maybe they figured nobody in Guam wanted a quarter and forgot about the rest of us?image

The folks in Guam are probably very happy to have the attention and they all probably got coins!
For those that have never been to Guam, just imagine a HOT and HUMID island in the middle of
    the Pacific Ocean.
Years ago, in a different life, I worked in the appliance department at Sears, here in Las Vegas.
Well, it turns out that Guamites could get great rates to fly here to Vegas. They would stop in
at Sears and buy chest freezers, as the power goes out a lot in Guam and they lose their food.
Chest freezers hold the cold the longest.
We would have to ship the freezers to the port in LA and then off to Guam. 6 weeks or more for
    goods to arrive.
Guam is really a far away place that does not sound like the best lifestyle choice, in my mind.
But I bet they love their island! And, now their coins!!

Here's an interesting fact I learned about one of our other territories. Puerto Rico's population is larger than that of 24 other STATES. Betcha didn't know that!
