Gem Uncirculated Slabs?

From time to time I see slabbed coins designated "Gem Uncirculated" or "Uncirculated"

I was wondering what the point is of paying for a coin to be slabbed and not assigned a grade,...

......Or are these coins not submitted "to".... but rather released "from" the TPG's?

Those are coins which did not meet minimum specified grade for a bulk First Strike submission.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Bulk submissions for the TV hucksters and the popular magazine ads.

A lot of times, those are also a lot cheaper to do.
There were times when morgans were sent in and put in labels as UNC where the cost was minimal (I've heard it was maybe $5/slab like that in bulk).....traders didn't have to worry about grade differences and there is no big warranty/grade guarantee hanging over those....

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

In California, we have this "three-strikes" law. Seems bad to be a three-striker. That's why I don't really want to go for a first strike if I don't have to.

"Uncirculated" and "Gem Uncirculated" are grades.

I agree. These are the culls that would have graded MS-68 or lower.

Wow! I've never really thought of an MS-68 coin as a "cull".

When I saw the thread title I groaned, thought someone has started grading the condition of the slabs themselves.

Still, the coin has been certified as authentic. This may become important in the future for gold eagles graded like this if (when) gold skyrockets and the counterfieters take up gold eagles.

    Gem Uncirculated is MS65, right?
