Know of any current hoards?

I know if I was hoarding a date or anything, I wouldnt say anything until I had all that I wanted. But does anyone here know of any current hoards of specific dates or anything? If so, care to share what ya know?
Thanks in advance as always.

If theres 1 million, maybe 50 or more would be considered a hoard.
Id consider that a large hoard.

<< <i>I cant really give a number as to how many coins youd have to have. What if theres 100 knonw and you own 6-10. Id consider that a modest hoard.

Why change the percentages? For a million known coins you would need 60,000 for a hoard. 1500 rolls of quarters. That sounds like a hoard.

Well, how about percentage-wise?
In your first example, the person would have a "hoard" consisting of between 6% nad 10% of the known population... in the second example the person would only have 0.005% of the known population.
So, is there a minimum percentage of the known population that indicates a "hoarding" of a particular coin?

This old forum post and Doug Winter article give some great insights into the concept and desirability, or not, of hoarding.

The other was a collector from the East who was trying to disperse a collection of also around 200 pieces. He was "retailing" the coins individually through a mailing list.

Went inside, and I had two mason jars full of loose change.
well, now they are smack dab under the middle of the shed, nestled in the rock bed, out of harms way.
wont someone have a blast when they find that!!!

I forgot to mention details of said hoard. Die Break/cud at the date? 30+ of those now.
Reverse cud? 20, 1 in AU, 2 in MS. One is an NGC MS64 with a strikethrough on the reverse as well.
Tens of each RPM known.
1 with a reverse cud not listed anywhere (Knauss, Cline...)
Teardrop? 20+ of those.
If I have, say, 850 of them or so right now with another 20-30 incoming, and they minted 2,644,000 of them, hwo many do ya think still exist? 5% of the original mintage? Now that I think about it, I might own close to .5% of all the survivors, I bet I have about the biggest hoard of them out there, especially with some of the die varieties and die clashes.

<< <i>haha yup, but a hoard that someone in the future will find when they tear down the reeeeealy big shed we put up in the back yard last year. Right before they set the monster down on its bed of rock...I said "WAIT".

Maybe.
Then again, if the economy keeps heading South, you may be out there with a sledge hammer busting concrete to get a little money to buy food.

If so, I don't know of anybody like that at all.
Now, if your talking total mintage, then forget it... it won't happen in my lifetime... uh... I mean... forget about this post.

<< <i>I once owned a roll of 1909 IHC's. Does that count as a hoard? A dealer that I bought some of these from asked me if I was going to make 1909 S's out of them.
Just saw a roll of these on a dealer's website, but all were in AG-G condition for around $500 I think... pretty cool though.

I liked this date IHC and would always buy when I saw a nice one with full LIBERTY.
For the record,I never did try to make a 1909 S out of any of my hoard coins.

One date might be a small hoard that I have is 1909 VDB lincolns. I have a bunch as it is my token purchase when checking out a delaer's coins and not really finding anything. I have about 200 or so now.
<< <i>Will swap my hoard of coins for some tuna...
In the not-to-distant-future we may all be willing to do that.
And, to answer the OP, yes, I know of a couple of super fine hoards and bought one recently.
