That 77 has just about everything messed up except for the date.

Will you try to get that 77 in a gennie holder?

The holder I placed it in to photograph the coin(s) is perfectly round and, surprisingly, it fit just right.

If genuine, it'll be interesting to see which secret code they place on the holder... what code does PCGS use when there are multiple problems with a coin???

Will you be recording all the dates and doing a statistical workup?

    that would be interesting!

You would be bored. Talk about some truly ugly coins. A couple of surprises but otherwise...

I did think about getting a cheap used DANSCO and seeing how many holes I could fill. Now that the key date is among them.
    (No 09-S or 08-S though.)

I also counted 655 so I suppose I didn't even get a full five pounds but somehow, someway, I'll work past that disappointment.

I wonder if the 1901 was in a "Keep Me And You'll Never Be Broke"-type encasement at some point.

Looks like the 1877 cent was retrieved from the owners pocket
in order to replace a broken piece of flint.

    Good luck.

Just finding that 1877 was worth the time for the search. UGLY, but it'd be cool to have anyday image

A "cull" is a coin that's badly damaged and/or heavily worn to the extent that it is not salable by grade, and generally sells for less than AG money.

I agree with Dentuck that the 1901 was an encased cent at some point. When I saw the image with the flattened areas at the rim, I thought the same.
