What in the world is up with these 2 half dollars???

While looking through some half rolls today, I came across two very unusual coins. The first looks like it has been melted on the back and is bent all out of shape. Could this be a Mint error in any way?

And the second is a hollow half. the center has been cut out of the half dollar and it has no back anymore. There is a small piece that is still solid, but that is it. Could this be an error as well? Thanks guys

i dont know alot about coin, but could someone please enlighten me with what is going on with these 2 coins. pictures below....

top coin: converted button-back (i would say cufflink but a half dollar would make for a HUGE cufflink)

bottom coin: lathed off reverse to make a hollow coin that was never finished (either for 'spying' purposes or as an opium pocket; although in 1976 these were not really envogue

bottom coin could also have been an attempt (gone awry) to shave off one side to make an infamous "two tailed" coin or something akin

Definitely not errors. Damaged after minting.

I didnt think they could be errors, but I could always hope!

But yeah, they look very "man made", I just didnt know for what purpose. Why would anyone do this?

Bottom one looks like one of the coins people use to hollow out. Druggies use to use them to store cocaine, the coins were made by cutting out the reverse, hollowing the whole back of the coin, then there was an area to press to open it. It looks like one of those broken off....

The bottom coin looks like it was an altered piece that someone tried to pry the back off of and it broke.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
