2009 Formative Years - Lincoln City, IN "Woodstock"

SilverstateSilverstate Posts: 1,537 ✭✭✭
It was a busy day in Lincoln City.
A note was handed out at the guard gate to not "Engage in Business" of selling or buying of rolls or risk being thrown out!
6 rolls per person was the order of the day. Most got through the line a second time and few die hards got through 3 times.
NO cases were left at the end of the event. No sealed cases were sold/given out at the event as promised initially from the coin world press release.

At the end of the day, outside of the park, guys with signs were paying $ 10 a roll for those that waited in the lines for some rolls. And some were more than willing to sell them at that price.

Moy was there from the mint. A Mint official after the event admitted to $ 10,000.00 in pennies being brought to the event.

Here is Brandy from Freedom bank that coordinated with the US Mint to handle the roll distribution through Freedom Bank, Dale, Indiana Branch

Here is a news article on the event.....

All in all a great event. Got to meet some real coin collectors and lots of locals that came to make a few eBay bucks as well.

Anyone else go to the event as well?

Yep. I was there as well. Since I only live a few miles from there I thought I'd grab a few. I had not thought there would be such a crowd. I didn't go back to the line for another shot though. One long wait in line was enough for me. My grandson got a free cent. I put it in a flip for him when we got home. He's 3 but already into the coins like his Papaw.

    Yup, quite a Circus.

Since they are mostly all fat old white guys it looks like the true coin collectors have turned out for the event. image

And the next one will be in Springfield, IL come August 13. I will be there amongst the madness! image I hope that the roll limit is not as restrictive as at the event in Indiana.

If anyone here has 2 rolls that they want to sell me for very reasonable money, please PM me. Thanks.

No bricks handed out? Hopefully that will make my log cabin brick from the first day more valuable.

That is only a piece of the line!
I could only get about a 1/3 of the line in a picture at a time!
Most figured it took 1 1/2 hours to get their first 6 rolls....

Those guys in line who are talking on their cell phones are actually ordering new yachts, giddy at the prospect of selling their rolls.
    "Have a nice day!"

something is TRULY wrong/broken with the process!!

No-charge exchanges with a few "local" residents & the rest of the population pays "gouging" $8.95 prices?image

It's all a big money-making process now, with the little-fish collector getting frozen-out on these and similar products that are SUPPOSED to be minted for "general circulation"............

........ Lincoln Cents, Territory Quarters, non-circulating JFK halves.................................. SUX!!

All I want to do is get (either on my own or by trading with someone) 5 each "P" & "D" nice, clean examples of each of the 4 Lincoln cent designs this year............is that too much to ask without having to jump thru hoops?!

Let others make their tons of profits... just don't cut out the little guy who was once the backbone of collecting, or the newbie/YN coming in who are its future........image

If anyone's broken-up a P or D roll of the latest Lincoln, care to spare some loose ones? Sell? Trade?...............

    Thanks!
