Damn I just bid on two coins sets ( total 15 coins) and I haven't read your link yet; I guess I like to live dangerously

I've never been disappointed by a coin I bought off ebay, when I received them they looked just like the pos I bid on. However one time I won a Frankie with monster toning and when I received it it looked nothing like the ebay picture, so I tossed the coin and kept the juiced picture.

I've been buying coins through eBay for over 10 years and have been disappointed only once or twice. Maybe I've been doing it wrong?

I bid on graded coins unless the raw coin pictures are detailed and without hidden marks. Many people don't and this gives ebay a bad name. The knowledgeable buyers and sellers need to report ebay scammers, counterfeiters and bad ebay deals to teach newbies.

It's time we made ebay a better place.

That's because you have the information to bid smart, but people are still bidding in INB, SGS and many of the of self slabbers. Also people are still bidding on counterfeit coins and coin auctions will edited pictures. Not all ebay buyers are informed.

Very bad and inappropriate analogy for a serious subject. Too many people on here trying to be comic acts and this is why people stop coming here.

Too many people don't know about grading services (I get emails all the time from my website), too many people never learned to grade, too many people automatically trust that an ebay seller wouldn't lie or hide imperfections on their coins, and all you can do is make a joke. You need to spend more time helping people then trying to get your post count up.

Methinks it's time for Ebay to make it a better place.

168,801 on going coin auctions and that's not including all other collectible auctions or the thousands of other auctions or the hundreds of new coin auctions being listed daily. Do you realize how many more ebay "police" ebay would have to hire to police all of the auctions? Their fees would have to be higher than what they already are. Ebay is a great idea and only a few are making it bad. If we keep fighting against this and reporting them with all the knowledge us experienced coin collectors have here, then we can put a huge dent in the scams and fraud by educating the public.

I don't expect the US government to make everything better for me and I sure don't expect ebay to, and I don't want more ebay policies or higher fees, there's too many already. We have the ability to make it better with very little effort on our part.

I just don't think some of you are looking at the bigger picture here. Ebay is just a third party medium, offering a website where people can buy and sell coins. It's the dishonest people that make it bad, and every time ebay comes up with new policies, people still complain.

So offer some solutions on how ebay can make it better. I don't see anything being posted that will help anyone and I'm coming to the conclusion that people on this board either don't care or the members that do care are just not posting.

I have some inside on this, and this is one of the options because they no longer us the ANA for help. However, in the meantime, that's where we come in. The link in the article goes directly to one person named Heidi at ebay and they listen and respond fast. If this person doesn't know about coins she is fast learning from me and a few others. She is aware of the article.

There is still a lot more for them to do. For instance, they pulled two of my auctions because I had ICCS in the title. That's not allowed, unless you're in Canada. That's pure BS.

I agree because they are a good Canadian grading service.

Too many people are in a rush to blame others, and too many people act like they are mad with their money.

We have a society of victims or potential victims... Humour is one way to deal with it.

If you fix Ebay, theyll just use that as a reason to raise fees.

As a matter of fact, I just read that. And speaking of teaching/helping.... My PM to the OP was to tell him that the the Cheerios Sacagawea had "boldly detailed tail feathers"

You did not send me a pm. My website has the correct information on the Sac Dollar and the Kennedy Half. I'm the original OP.

Also, I don't mind a joke if it's funny, but it wasn't. You can start all the joke threads you want, but if you don't like my complaining about lame jokes then stop posting in my threads. It's a two way street, and I edited my comment for profanity.

That is what's wrong with the forum, to many smart *sses and not enough positive feedback. You guys just lurk here looking for a fight or to make a comment so you think it will make everyone laugh. I take ebay coin scams seriously and if you don't care about other people getting scammed then that's your right.

I do care and nothing will change that. Our forefathers cared about the Colonies and they got things changed, it went "south" since then, but I bet they had to deal with joksters also. So you guys and be the Torys and I will be the Colonialist.

Just remember, the more junk you post here, the more you keep the thread at the top. So, in essence, your playing into my game.

This must be a picture from one of your own auctions. Self slabbers are the only people that would ignore the good I try to do and post this.

An old woman took a very limp parrot into a vet's office. As she placed her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest. After a moment or two, the vet shook his head sadly and said, "I'm so sorry, but Polly has passed away." The distressed owner wailed, "Are you sure? I mean, you
haven't done any testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or something."

The vet rolled his eyes, shrugged, turned and left the room, returning a few moments later with a beautiful black Labrador. As the bird's owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the dead parrot from top to bottom. He then looked at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head.

The vet patted the dog and took it out, but returned a few moments later with a cat. The cat jumped up and also sniffed delicately at the ex-bird. The cat sat back, shook its head, meowed and ran out of the room.

The vet looked at the woman and said, "I'm sorry, but as I said, your parrot is definitely 100% certifiably ... dead." He then turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a bill which he handed to the old lady.

The parrot's owner, still in shock, took the bill. "$500!," she cried, "$500 just to tell me that my bird is dead!?" The vet shrugged. "If you'd taken my word for it the bill would only have been $20, but what with the Lab report and the Cat scan..."

Coinauctionshelp, I sense a little hostility coming from you. You are preaching to some of the most knowledgeable people in the business. Yes people do need to educate themselves before bidding on Ebay. However, these same traits that they display on Ebay are carried throughout the daily lives. Some people are just "Dumb" and no matter what you do they will continue this behavior. I have seen people on Ebay leave positive feedback for an item they never received. It's survival of the fittest. I thing if you relax a little you will find people a little more receptive.

heh. i just found it ironic that i visit your website and right in the
advertising is rover ebay links to the crap you are railing against!

maybe you should take that as constructive criticism and not get so
uppity when someone points out the humor in the situation!

me? i would have just paid 50-60 bucks a year for webhosting with
lots of space and bandwidth and simply asked for donations via
paypal. keep myself pure. just a thought!

as for why i do not create websites and all that jazz? i am too busy
    running an ISP 24 hours a day/seven days a week/365 a year. I
get enough of it as it is helping my customers. i have no wish to do
    it in my spare time.

Seriously, I not mad at the comments. I hate these self slabbers and none of your comments where offensive to me and I apologize if they sounded angry. I just believe in what I'm doing. Unfortunately, some of the links do lead to these auctions and I try to eliminate that, but I can't. But I do thank everyone for posting advice and comments.

I guess I should realize when everyone is just having fun. Like I said, I'm not mad or hostile. How can I be when It's just typing on a computer?

I will say this, if people visit my site and read the info, I doubt they bid on these over graded coins after the visit. At least that's what their emails tell me.

I thought about this a lot. I don't have to post anything of use here because I run and own my own forum, blog and website that reaches thousands of people a month. However, I don't feel that I reach enough people so this and other forums I use to inform people or gain support from other coin collectors.

I don't post here to teach anyone about coins, but that some may show some support and recommend what I write and offer. So, I'm not trying to teach people who already know, but people who don't. Anyway, I'm not just doing it for money or hits to my website. Coins is my passion, but if I wanted to really make money then I would just start a porn, dating or electronics wesbite.

I don't because I love coins, but it's not where the money is for me or I would quit my day job.

And that is good. And a free ttt. Not "playing into your hands" per se - just that I think your intentions are good. You just need to unclench a bit image

Also, AndyMac's point is excellent - "You are preaching to some of the most knowledgeable people in the business" - you might put yourself in others' shoes and ask "am I being perceived as condescending?"

    Just sayin'.
