How much was the 1858 $3 Gold in AU53 selling for at the height of the Well Managed Promotion™?

I was taking a look at a dealer's website, and I marveled at how dirt cheap the 1858 $3 gold was that the dealer had in inventory. The coin is truly rare with a mintage of just 2,133 coins (who knows how many actually exist of that mintage), unlike the billions upon billions of modern coins that are minted today.
The description of the coin (posted below) even hints at how out of favor this series is, and how cheaply the coins could be purchased. Just out of curiousity, does anyone know what the 1858 $3 gold (in AU53) was selling for at the height of the Well Managed Promotion™ surrounding these coins recently? I am normally not into buying coins for investment purposes, but this coin seems to have upward value potential as soon as the next Promotion™ starts.

"With a mintage of just 2,133 coins, the 1858 is among the scarcer Three Dollar gold pieces from the Philadelphia mint. Unlike many of the Philly issues from this era, this date saw considerable circulation and it is almost never seen in Uncirculated grades. This is a pleasing example with nice detail, good color and more luster than one might expect. Both sides have moderate rose-gold and greenish color and there are just a few scattered light marks visible to the naked eye. This series is currently out-of-favor and contrarian collectors can find some wonderful value in this series. To my way of thinking, a nice AU example of this genuinely scarce issue at a spot over four thousand bucks is a heck of a good deal."

priced and shows no sign of being under priced. it is a nice example
and priced accordingly.
a touch over 4000 grand has the potential to get a AU55 but it will
not look as nice as that one.
so it is not under priced in my mind but it is a good deal based on
eye appeal for the date/mint.
two different things we are discussing.
