It's legit, I just posted on this on the sports talk forum.

Well, now we'll see just how good the Dodgers are. That's a huge part of the offense gone for two months. Ethier & Kemp in particular will have to step up their game at the plate - no more Manny to make pitchers nervous.
  • Manny being Manny........with a little help. The Dodgers have to be happy about that. Geez

I am sure he will say it isn't so that it was something he bought over the counter.

First Arod and now Manny. This is almost enough to make me completely quit collecting modern baseball cards. I collect mostly vintage but I do have some modern sets that I have been working on. I am seriously considering selling all of my modern stuff and sticking with vintage only.
  • It's so stupid to get caught now after all that's been going on with A-Rod. I'm assuming he was using in the first month of this year and just had a random test. What a dummy.

Another one bites the dust. All I ask is that Griffey somehow makes it out of this era with a clean record...

Why would anyone be surprised by this news?

Who's next? ...Thome, Griffey, Pujos, Sheffield, Howard, Pedroia, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, ect...

Ya gotta wonder what this will do to the price of his cards - Can't be good.

Ryan Howard is clean - he's a big guy but he doesn't have that "bulked up look" that steroid users get because of water retention.

Something we can agree on pat- i hope the griff gets out with a clean record too, just my opinion, but i dont think he was into it, hes always been a small guy, never the size of the incredible hulk anyway.
Granted he was always hurt all the time or he would have passed bonds by now, hopefully he can do it as a mariner, i hate the thought of bonds being the home run king, its enough to make you pukeimage

  • What about David Ortiz? Maybe he stopped using when this all started heating up with A-Rod. Now he's got the Jason Giambi falloff. Can't catch up to a fastball and has no power

I think the ARod and Manny situations will now definitely put all players in this era into question, innocent or not. In some ways, all players are getting what they deserve. Their union said it was a non-issue and ignored it for as long as possible. For those that are clean, thank Fehr and Orza for allowing it to go unchecked to the point it obviously got out of control.

BTW, Canseco strikes again with predicting Manny was on the juice. As much as I absolutely hate Jose, he seems to know his juicers.

The best pitch to start a hitter off with is always strike one.

Not me. Fairly or not, I assume that ALL of today's big hitters are dirty.

50 game suspensions now? I guess MLB just doesn't know how to punish cheaters yet.

Wonder if Manny will admit to try and save face, or deny deny deny.

What's was done in the past (ala AROD) was done in the past, but if you get caught cheating TODAY, I'm a little surprised the
    punishment isn't harsher... like banishment.

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!

First Jose Canseco is the Einstein of roid users. I read his first book. Worthwhile with a few goid laughs. They should make it into a movie.

Secondly, MLB players must have the most incompetent doctors since they keep mistakenly giving them performance enhancing drugs.

Maybe this is why no one wanted to give him a long term deal.

PED's. I know all of the Cardinals fans on here are hopeful, but I think that Pujols will come out at some point.

No kidding. I know of a couple guys around here who will jump off a building if that happens. Though I find those two Pujols fanatics very annoying I actually hope Pujols is clean. Would be nice for there to be one clean superstar in this era. Only time will tell....
  • He just said on the news it was something his doctor prescribed?so who knows?

It is likely prudent to adopt the plan you are considering.

I fully expect MANY more players to get whacked, during
    the next few years.

    ........

    Note To Manny:

I kinda like you, so please don't insult me with the nonsense
    about "the doctor did it."

    Just apologize and move forward.

I agree. I'm a Cardinals fan and a Pujols fan (although I'm not as obsessed as some on here...) and it would kill me if he tests positive. I grew up as an A's fan (mostly for Canseco and McGwire) and it really sucks to have a hero become the villian. image

  • MLB is saying Ramirez tested positive for a women's fertility drug. Doping experts are saying this drug is used by individuals who are coming off a "steroid cycle". When someone comes off a steroid cycle their body has difficulty naturally producing testosterone so they take this particular drug to "restart" their testosterone production after a period of steroid use. In other words Manny knew exactly what he was taking and exactly why he was taking it. It also tells me what I always suspected--many has been a long-time "sophisticated" steriod user who knew how to "beat" the testing procedures--just like A-Rod. Frankly it couldn't have happened to a sleazier guy!! And that is coming from a resident of southern California who has been a Dodger fan since '68.

Manny was coming off a steroid cycle and needed this for his body to restart natural testosterone production.

Here is the latest article confirming the drug source:

Or he uses this stuff in excess to boost his natural testosterone production.
Either way you cut it he most likely is another form of a modern day cheating 'juicer'.

These guys are all cons, without the juice they would be average players making millions less, they disrespect the fans, other ball players and history of the game to get ahead on the $$ Contract negotiations, if they get caught no harm done, they still made millions more for doing it in the first place.

Pisses me off to the highest degree.

Part of me feels like it's our fault for making sports figures do this to themselves. Be honest, the general public usually doesn't go for the player who is normal-sized and hitting under 20 HRs per season. They go for the mammoth who is hitting 50+ HRs. They know full well that in order to make the huge dollars, they have to do whatever they can to make themselves that player, even if it means cheating. Yes, it SUCKS, but it's our fault for generally loving the long ball.
  • To quote Akruacy503 it too "pisses me off to the highest degree". That is way I no longer collect shiny, new, pretty baseball cards and only collect vintage cards. Bonds and Sosa burned me years ago and at that time I vowed never to collect cards from anyone from this generation of cheaters. Stick with vintage cards from the "golden era" of baseball and you will never go wrong!!--you'll sleep better at night also....
