Home Trading Cards & Memorabilia Forum

Almost finished my sports basement, pics.

I did the majority of work last winter and it has sat idle for a few months (hence the mess on the bar). Just need to pick up a few more pieces for the TV room and I think I can officially call it my man cave.

image

As you come down the steps

image

Through the door and to the left. The sports bar area. Floor is cork. Went with the pub height table and 8 chairs for poker and drinking games (man, who woulda thought I'd still be playing drinking games at 36).

image

Joe M jersey, a few signed balls, and some of my favorite cards from childhood.

image

Other wall. A few more balls, some art prints, some Buffalo Bills crap (born and raised, 0-4), extra fridge.

image

Bar. Quartz top. Built the soffit. Those are LED puck lights. More stuff on the walls.

image

Behind the bar. Wine fridge and mini fridge with ice maker. A few raw Mantles.

image

Other 1/2 of the room (tv rooom). Currently shopping for decorations.

Bob, that looks fantastic. Makes me want to finish my basement, but that would mean less money for cards. image
    Thanks for sharing!
  • Very cool. Looks like a great place to escape and relax. Nice display with the sports things to. I see you have Seinfeld on the TV, not bad at all. Congrats

    Thanks fella's.

I had to re-do 3-1/2 bathrooms, a crap load of tile work, trimwork, a wet bar, tons of lighting, more painting than anyone in the world should have to do, and suffer through a month of saturdays in furniture showrooms with my wife the last 3 years as we finished the upstairs. All with the promise that when we were done up there, I could do the basement.

It's a Bills piece. Jim K, Thurm, Bruce and Reed. Not auto'd. The little plaques below have their career stats.

Very cool. I was wondering because I had a very similar looking custom piece made of the '99 Rams.

It's great to have your own man cave isn't it!

No, I'm an environmental consultant. Had 2 houses before I met my wife and kinda learned by trial and error. We bought this one together 3 years ago right before we got married.

Believe me, if you look closely you will not confuse my work with that of a professional contractor.

Ironic part - I finished it up about 3 months ago. We also found out she was prego with our first about 3 months ago. I see sponge bob and johnny-jump ups down there in the very near future.

I really like what you have done with your basement especially that it looks like you want to make your friends, regardless of their preference in sport, welcome (love the ’80 hockey celebration photo). Even though I am not a huge baseball/football/basketball fan, if I made a room like yours I would try to include something of all of the major sports, just as it appears you have done.

    A+

Awesome job!!! Especially like the touch with the display of your favorite cards from your childhood. Not the most expensive cards, just the ones that meant something personally to you. Perfect.

  • Bob, huge props. Looks great. I'm a first-time homeowner so I'm familiar with the trial-and-error process of home projects but none of my projects come out anywhere near as nice as your basement. Just curious, what kind of display cases do you have the cards in?

Congratulations on the pending family addition.

The basement looks great. Did you put a groove in the top of the chair rail to hold your cards? If so, that it a brilliant idea, and I am stealing it.

Well done, it's tough to beat booze and cards together in a cool room.
  • BobSBobS Posts: 1,738 ✭✭
Thanks again guys. The basemant was "finished" when we moved in, but I basically had to re-do everything except the drywall.

The goove in the chairail would have been a good idea, didn't even think about it.

The cards on the rail behind the bar are my guys named dick, woody, lac@ck collection. Even the most non-sportcard folks can find enjoyment in those.

Maybe a picture of the tequila wet bar I built into the living room upstairs this evening.

Hi - my name is Rob, and I have a drinking problem. However, I've always liked the term "functional alcoholic" myself.

Awesome, with the exception of the alcohol. I don't drink. Never have and never will. If you minus the liquor, that is an absolutely fabulous basement. Are those Mantles the real deal? I think I see a 52 and 53 Topps.
