Even with images like this, I see three things:

Botched "A" in AMERICA

Botched 1 in 1/2

Botched dot between UNITED and 2 1/2

Does not look good to me.

Because of the side illumination, I can't see the surface of the fields.

The depth of the devices on the reverse look wrong, but the illumination is odd.

Where are the obverse pictures?

Hard to tell because the scans are so dark. At first blush it looks hinky but will reserve judgement untill I can see better pics, if possible.

perfect example of not being able to tell jack from scans/pics. i agree with the above.

Just my 2 cents worth but Id have a clear refund agreement that it needs to take a trip to a TPG.

BTW...what condition? Looks way too nice for VF and none exist over MS60....

I suspect that crappy pic was intentional on the part of the seller.

FYI, 1856-D is a favorite date of the Asian scammers and many unmarked fakes are around. This could be one of them IMO. I found the obverse pics HERE. If you compare it to the replicas listed elsewhere on the bay it looks pretty similar IMO. The description sounds as if copied from an auction catalog. Call me skeptical at best on this one.

Make a deal that if it comes back from PCGS graded that you'll buy the coin.
Only if it's graded. Too rare, too expensive and too risky. You pay the grading
fees if it grades or not.
