Got a neat signed Pete Rose rookie today with photos of signing
A couple months back I picked up a nice BGS 6 graded Pete Rose rookie. Once I got it out of the BGS holder (those are a pain in the rear compared to PSA to open) it was in an enclosed inner plastic sleeve and rather than have the patience to wait until I had a proper razor blade to get it out, I tried to cut it with scissors and I was pushing down on the plastic applying pressure with a fine point blue pen and using the pen as a buffer between the card and the scissors so I didn't cut the card. Was also arguing with the wife at the same time about something else and I let my attention lapse. I overestimated my ability to have a steady hand, and you can see that I almost accidently punched a hole through the top border as well as left a nasty pen mark on the top border, really stupid, but I'll live and learn. It's not the first time my impatience has cost me and unfortunately probably won't be the last
Good thing for me that I only have my signed rookies slabbed authentic.
Anyways, I decided to have it signed in a unique way to make it a nice addition to my collection. I sent it to Field of Dreams out in Las Vegas and Belinda hooked me up as usual with a nice job and nice photos of Pete signing it.

I wanted him to do an apology signed rookie (I'm sorry I bet on baseball), but he wouldn't do that, he'll only do that on baseballs. I offered a lot of $$$ but still wouldn't do it.

Very very nice!
I like that inscription better than the betting on baseball one.
It defines Pete at his best; not his worst

Good point PoppaJ, I was just wanting something relatively unique to soften my stupidity of almost putting a pen through the top border!!
And I agree with PoppaJ, I like the inscription you actually got much better.
Congrats on a great pick-up!

I can't help but wonder what all the chicken scratch on his desck cover means. Who is "seebach's"?, and does Pete owe him $1050? Somethings up with Tony and $100 also. Hmmmmmmmm.

David Seebach is a famous magician that might be performing in Vegas while Pete's there.
The $1050 could be a tally of wagers Pete has placed, or perhaps a tabulation of what he was making that day by signing.
The name Tony in Vegas could be a lot of different people... take it from an Italian
Of course, these explanations are simply uneducated guesses at best!

The good news is that sig is sweet and you added another great card. Congrats.
<< <i>Mike that pen incident is so dumb. Did it work at all? I Cannot imagine how a smart guy can sit there and think he can cut a thin section of tough plastic with a pen.

I concur 100%, but in my limited defense, I didn't phrase it well above. I wasn't trying to cut it with the pen, I was cutting it with scissors and I was pushing down on the plastic applying pressure with the pen and using the pen as a buffer between the card and the scissors so I didn't cut the card. Was also arguing with the wife at the same time about something else and I let my attention lapse. I overestimated my ability to have a steady hand. Still stupid!!!
