Seller reported.
His English is better than I would have expected.
<< <i>All of his auctions are fake. >>
Out of curiosity, and knowledge, how do you tell? I would not know from the pics that the slabs and coins are fake. This person has a bunch of slabs listed and bids near 10k. The people buying are gonna be in for a rude awakening.
How can you tell fake slabs from those not so good pics?
I haven't seen OGHs counterfeited. He also has at least one NGC coin in his feedback and it is a new pronged holder.

<< <i>Fake or not it would be better to stay away.
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men stand by and do nothing.
I suspect that most of you are suspicious solely because the seller is from China. If the seller was from the U.S., how many of you would even question the authenticity?
<< <i>From what I can tell from their crappy pictures the coin doesn't even look AU. I thought we all would have learned by now... STAY AWAY FROM CHINA NUMISMATIC LISTINGS ON EBAY. >>
we.....................that post here make up a miniscule part of the people that buy on ebay.

Jerry,
that is one real '79s, IMHO. Hmmmm, stolen pic but with the same little slab holders?
The '89 is not the real deal but this one appears to be.

Two-part answer:
1. Seller is in China.
2. Coin is a valuable date.
<< <i>latest feedback......." Another counterfeit coin in a counterfeit holder offered by this seller -beware. " >>
I'd be willing to bet that the feedback was left seconds after the auction was "won", was never paid for and will never see the hands of the "buyer". Seller would then file NPB and a complaint and the feedback will be removed.
Tuition can be a lot cheaper listening to the voices of experience.

Though I suppose it is possible Heritage and Premium Numismatics are selling fake coins that actually look like they match the grade. Hmm...

On some sales like the OGH I linked earlier, that is probably the case. But on the Pemium Numismatics VF 1795 $1 flowing hair, I see not photo of the slab on the Prenum website. But the grade and cert number are listed so he could make a fake VF30 $1795 FH dollar and a fake slab and use the real number and sell it on ebay.
Still, since he takes paypal, won't the buyer be protected? Seems like paypal may be the target as they are trying to steal money from paypal. --Jerry

What are the chances it is not a fake...I wouldn`t be a bidder IM one of the people
like most others thinking it probably is a fake and just because of where the seller is
from...what is PCGS policy on counterfit slabs...looks like a big can of worms for somebody...

On that Trade Dollar? Zero. Go look at the barcode on the Heritage sale and compare it to the one he is selling.
Personally - I like to think that PCGS and eBay work together to buy these things (with money they will get back of course) in an ongoing effort to enumerate these counterfeit rings.

Just got an email from a lurker used to go by coinguy1 who wanted me to make sure it was clear that in this case it was a fake coin in a fake slab. --Jerry
If he said it, it has to be so. The easiest way for me to tell it was bad was the grade, that was no AU, but the slab, I'm lost.
"Obvious counterfeit. Not anywhere near AU and a poorly made
one at that, if you blow up the pic. Fake PCGS slab. Very deceptive
and this needs to stop being an outlet for Chinese theives.

Got this response:

I have thoroughly investigated your report and can confirm that the item

Thanks again for your report.

eBay Customer Support "
Then I responded to Fordham that, respectfully, he has no knowledge of
coins and please just forward this to the coin Guru's that ebay uses.
But, not in these exact words.
bob
That is very disappointing. However, I got some more positive feedback from my report and I think the items will be ended.
So we have a trade dollar tomorrow that needs to be bought. PM me if you're going to buy it. We don't want more than one nuclear snipe at a time as the guy has figured out to block those that buy without intending to pay. That's why the 1795 $ didn't get bought.
Anyone, please PM me if you intend to "BUY" it.

What trade dollar... see the problem with these types of things getting reported here... Anyone worth their salt, doing this as a business, would be a fool not to read this board.
Trade Dollar - Ended Early To Sell To High Bidder
As soon as a collectible category goes hyper, the bootleggers move in.
At least that's what's happened in everything I ever collected.
These included but were not limited to vinyl records, antique bottles, hand painted Nippon, art glass,
18th and 19th century presidential autographs, plus others.
My Fbay dealings were mostly antique postcards with some depression glass and other stuff.
I sold quality items and never had a complaint as my 29xx positive FB will show (I am jdtan).
The only neg. I ever received was from an A--hole who lost our contest thru paypal to the tune of $1500
over a set of Lincolns with a "XF++" 1914-D and nothing less that VF. He had over 700 FBs with 100%.
At that point I said to h--- with it. I've only bought a couple or three coins there since then which was
over 2 years ago.
Correction: I had a prospective postcard bidder chastise me for not describing it as "Genuine" in the listing.
Sorry if I got carried away.
All the things I mentioned ended up with fakes by the truck load.
It practically kills the hobby as collectors grew hesitant to buy from anyone except major dealers
and auction houses and were wary ot them.
I just hope coins, my first and easily my favorite collectible, can hold on for the long run.
JT
I collect all 20th century series except gold including those series that ended there.
China, were pasta and silk.
