I believe my Dad had this made for my Mom and I remember seeing her wear it occasionally (they didn't go anywhere really nice enough for her to wear too often). My brother ended up with this after Mom passed away and he promptly gave it to my wife because she liked it and he didn't. He also knew I liked it very much, too.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago, and although "coin jewelry" seems to fit the bill, I don't know what it is beyond that. I'm calling it a brooch for lack of a better idea. Oddly, it's hollow rather than solid. I haven't figured out any way to get it open, though...
