Sell now or wait?

Usually I can figure this out for myself but recent sales are limited or non-existent. This kid is hot and this will be his first full season in the majors (barring any injuries). No recent eBay sales of this card raw or graded. Only SP Adam Lind single auto PSA 10 sold for $130. This one is a POP 1 PSA 10.

My theory is someting bad can always happen, slump/injury. Sell when they are hot.

To add, I have never been a big fan of A-Rod so I put all my dupes aside for a large lot auction. I may have to wait a few more years to get that value back image

Hold onto it for a few years. Store it in the box next to your Kevin Maas and David Neid rookies. They're bound to be valuable someday!!

    +1

If it weren't for the pop 1 I would cross it to BGS for selling purposes.

Funny you should say that. It was actually in a box of PSA graded prospects in between Ian Kinsler (the card I was actually looking for) and Ian Desmond.

Agreed...sell when it's hot! You never know what the future holds.

you could always sell it to a waiter
  • Since it could possibly be the only one listed, putting it up now might be a good idea. Especially with a hot player.

Throw out a high "buy it now" and see what happens.

  • Listing stuff from my eBay store in lots tomorrow. Will throw this one on there too with the few singles I'm listing. Probably start it at like a milliion dollars since it is a 1/1 and stuff.

This is just my opinion, but I think you should sell when it is hot and buy when it is cold. The price will likely decline. This is not to say he won't be a great one, but the card prices are going to be volatile for rookie players. Lots of ups and downs. If you have no attachment to this card, sell it. If you like the player, sell it now and buy it again once prices soften.

    I agree with stevek.
Put a Buy It Now price with the best offer option. I have had great success listing that way.

Very tricky regular user guy. Would you like me to make a bogus offer to drum up a little more hype?

Feel free. Three more people have looked at this auction in the 10 minutes since I posted the link here.
  • I don't understand the issue here. He asked this question on Saturday morning. He got peoples opinion, took their advice and posted it for sale on Sunday evening. I suppose he could have put it in a safe deposit box with his Jerome Walton rookie cards.

If there's anything I've learned in my years of collecting, is sell while the iron's hot!!

Case in point, Gregg Jefferies. I loaded up on this guy thinking he was the next stud.

Anyone want about 100 Jefferies rookies??

Just a heads up. His cards have already started to cool down. His most desired card is from the same set as yours but the single autographed version numbered to 400. It was selling at 50+ with BGS 9.5 selling just over 100 but as of last night a PSA 9 went for 37.00.

The card you are selling, though numbered to less, is not as popular as the single player version.

Anyway, if you get a decent offer I would take it and run.

PSA 10 of the single signed Lind card sold for $129 this weekend and only one listed on eBay is a $169 BIN OBO.

My card is a 1/1 and you get 2 rookies for one low price. image
