<< <i>I'm still wondering how Superior Customer Service solves the problem of bidders who ignore email sent to them and refuse to pay for their winning bids >>

There is nothing that can be done about shoplifters, non paying e-bayers, when going into business for yourself in a retail setting or on e-bay. It is just part of the operational cost. But everytime I encountered someone stealing from my store, or not paying on e-bay (I have had my share), I still treated them with respect, (the law suits protect the criminals). When catching a shoplifter in the act, (caught more than I can count) I politely would ask them will that be cash or charge? 100% paid and left quickly, after asking them to please not return. Calling the police never did any good... ever... even after taking the serious offenders to court. 100% always had the money, 100% always paid and I treated each like my best friend when ringing up their sale, their embarrasment was enough payment... yes they were surprised I was so nice.

    On my non paying e-bayers, if someone had it in their mind to not pay, there is just nothing that can be done, my customer service level would respond;

" Thank you for the winning bid in my auction, and understand that situations may change from time to time. I would appreciate your payment as soon as possible. I also understand you may no longer want this item for reasons beyond your ability to pay at this point, if only for simple respect please respond so I may relist this item, if no response I will assume you chose not to finish this transaction". I do not like filing complaints with e-bay, and would like to resolve this with communication and await your reply.

    Thank you...

I had one buyer that died in the process from the time of bidding to the time the auction was over. I had no idea that was the case at the time and literally found out a few weeks later. The good part for me was all of my e-mails were respectful business in nature...even to the point of finally getting, "IM sorry for no one responding to you earlier but so and so has died suddenly". Thank you for your patience while we sort this matter out. Had I been rude in my replys it would not have looked so good to the family. I dont care what the situation for me personally I always go out of my way giving the benfit of doubt and never neg anyone no matter how much they deserve it...and its working quite well for me....

Good for you, so are mine. But, I'm still going to add the deadbeat to my blocked bidder list.

I've also rarely every negged a buyer. Of course, that's moot now.

You have 140 transactions as a seller. How about you come back and lecture us about eBay when you have a few thousand.

Yes, there is. You can add them to your blocked bidder list.

Ignoring for the moment the fact that negative feedback can no longer be left for buyers, I always go out of the way to give all my bidders the benefit of the doubt too, yet have always negged those who deserved it. I don't see that having done so makes me any worse of a person than those who chose to let known cheats and frauds get away with their games.

140 or 14000 there is no difference...if you want to pull a trump card of your 6000 +
I can only reply I had equal # of sales in six months...
and everyone can chime in there is a difference I still say no way...
we can agree to disagree... its not a lecture is a track record
    of annual sales 3.5 mil....

So if someone were to say they had 4 weeks of retail experience, that would be equivalent to your 40 years?

    Two -

The first name is the only person ever to have given me negative feedback (bizarre story) and the second one is my own username so I am not tempted to bid on my own stuff! image

My 40 years is why I know there is no difference to someone new on e-bay maybe...but not to me...
ebay is not rocket science...its sales...

Ok... so regarding selling on eBay- your extended retail experience is relevant when you apply it to yourself, but others' extended eBay experience isn't relevant when you apply it to them. Got it! image

This statement is silly on its face. Obviously, somebody with only 140 seller feedback will have encountered far fewer problem bidders than somebody with thousands of seller feedback.

    << <i>if you want to pull a trump card of your 6000 + >>

Make that 9000+. I used your gross feedback number, so let's compare apples to apples.

Ok lets compair... I will just have to use my 20,000 per year...
That is actually a low one too (economy)

You can boast all you want about 9000...what I know about both
there is no difference... to others maybe yes...if I wanted or relied on e-bay to support
myself I know for a fact I would continue at 100%...I had problems daily operating
six stores and can promise you your problems about being negged or non paying bidders
is like listening to children cry....try having one stores sales drop 150K in six months
due to street being renovated by the city...you say you own a store IM surprised you dont see
    ebay is no different....

Nobody laughed at the fact I put myself on the blocked bidder list because it was sandwiched in between the current argument - anyway my joke was quite funny. image

Both are forum members I believe are too unstable and irrational.
