Trade my way to a Jordan Rookie (Jerry Rice RC for trade)

I have always wanted a Michael Jordan Rookie. I could just buy one and have the wife yell at me but where's the fun in that. I saw that a collector on this forum is trading up to a Mantle Rookie (thank you to him), I said "That sounds like a good way to do it".

My goal: To trade for a Michael Jordan Fleer rookie card graded by PSA (as high grade as possible).

I know I'm newer to these forums but I have ebay feedback of 900+. ebay feedback I have no problem sending first as long as you can provide some background on yourself (trade history, ebay, etc.) or if you're known on the forums. I will send all trade cards in a bubble envelope with DC and Signature Conf. on the higher end trades.

If anyone has any tips on this process, please feel free to let me know.

I hope this will be a fun time, it has been years since I have traded cards, I look forward to this quest.

To keep with the Jordan theme here is the first card for trade:

Maybe you should ask "that collector" who you took the idea from.

Ok, before the wolves come out on your thread, sir, let me make a couple reasonable observations...

This is currently being done by board-member Elemenopeo in his attempt to trade for a 52 Mantle. It's been going on for awhile now. It's over a year now, yes?

The reason a venture like this can ultimately be successful is that people are willing to trade down marginally on an item they have for an item that you're looking to unload. The reason it's worked for the 52 Mantle thread is that Bryon has a lot of credibility with the members of this forum and did when he started his venture. I know there will be some that will attempt to help you along the way, but with a post history at your current level I believe you will find that some members will be unwilling to make what ends up being a "charity" trade.

I'm not saying I'm one of them or anything...I wish you the best. I think you may encounter some resistance though.

When the original thread was posted for the Mantle, there were many impersonator threads including one for a Pete Rose rookie by a scammer.

I wish you the best of luck in this task, but you may be better off just buying a nice PSA 8 than wasting time working on trades. In reality you could get a second job at Walmart and pay for the card in much less than time than it would take to execute all the trades.

I would also recommend fixing your Avatar as the Red X screams scammer.

Meh, I don't have a problem with this unless it's another scammer. Whatever the other person is doing in his goal to obtain a '52 Mantle really has no bearing here.

    Good luck with your quest.

I totally understand about the hesitation aspect of it. I'm always weary of online trades, I have been ripped off myself by little or unknown people on boards (my fault). That's one reason I posted my ebay feedback, I'm not a deadbeat.

Another thing, I'm not in a hurry to buy a Jordan RC. As I said, this would be more fun.

I also said that I would send first. How can I scam you if you have my card in hand???

Nobody on here can tell you what you can and can't do. I'm assumming that you are a grownup so you don't need permission to try and trade up for a jordan rookie. Good luck and I hope that you get the Jordan!!!!!

I don't get it, you take a card that sold last week for $3.50 and trade to someone for a Gwynn that sells for $6.00 to $8.00 and a Boggs that sells for between $5.00 to $9.99. You got 3 times the value of the card you sent? How is this a fair trade? I enjoy the trade as much as anybody else, but I am not going to take one sided loss on my cards.

Just a thought, I may just be in a bad mood

I hate to be a spoil sport but all threads like this just scream, give me free stuff or I am too cheap to save up and just buy the card. God bless anyone helping you out or giving you great deals but I just think its pretty presumptious to think that this community would give you 600 to 800 in free cards just by starting a thread.

Nobody is compelled to trade. Some do it just for the heck of it, some to help the OP with a fun project, some to pick up a card(s) they actually want in exchange for something they don't want (if they happen to take a small "hit" on the transaction then so be it). I think it is a creative idea and makes for an entertaining and fun thread myself.

Good luck with your endeavour. Eyebone

You act like I'm holding a gun to your head saying "Give me a Jordan for this $5 card!". image

No one is obligated to trade with me, if you don't want to that's fine too. If someone can trade for a card that they want with a card that they have lying around, it works on both ends.

Sorry but it's really hard to get excited about 1983 Fleer, especially in PSA 9.

No you aren't putting a gun but it is a tug at the good will of the boards. Even if you don't get a Jordan you already turned a 10 cent card into a two PSA 9 HOF RCs. There are tons of good guys on here and ladies and it seems about every 3 months something happens because of the generosity on here so color me skeptical.
