I'm don't understand this grade or auction pictures

I found this auction for an MS66 Morgan Dollar and I can't see the coin making the grade. Also, the pictures are terrible. I don't know why these pictures have to look like this if the coin is MS66. I take pictures of coins everyday, and no matter how bad they get the pics never turn out like this. What is this ebay seller using. any opinions?

The thread was about this seller and shill bidding. summerfreebreeze was the shill for eBay banned sellers(muffinsmommi, safehavencattery and katanos) but is NOW the seller.... Note that she is still using shills; the old one, haosmark (a**h 39) and a newly created one goodniteirene12 (n**r 7). It's very easy to do an advanced search and see what these 2 shills have won; haosmark goes back to Muffy and you can check the feedback. Yeah, she's at it again; by the way, the location "Traveling Man" is a ruse; she's out of Long Island NY. Pieces won by the shills are relisted and bid upon, again and again, until a non-shill wins.
edit to add that her shills NEVER make reserves....
The name is LEE!
My opinion is that the coin, even from those pics, looks 66 all day long.
That Morgan looks artificially frosted from those images... yet 27 bidders like the sellers photography style
I don't think it looks artificial at all.

I also agree that this coin doesn't look like an ms66.
I've been criticised for saying this before, but this type of PCGS slab was used at a time that I feel PCGS was the most liberal in their grading.
I believe there is no way that coin gets an ms66 today.

Fields appear very clean on both sides....a few grazes on obverse in front of nose that wouldn't keep from a 66.
Few scattered marks appear relatively shallow...except perhaps the one on the nose, but that by itself wouldn't keep from a 66.
Cheek appears smooth.
Strike appears solid with good luster.

<< <i>At least just going from the pics, what about this coin doesn't look like a 66?

Have you seen what PCGS grades even an ms65 nowadays???
This coin is not an ms66.
I don't want to imply that I'm an expert in Morgans. Far from it. It's just that this coin as an ms66 by today's grading, just doesn't sit right with me.

We all have our opinions. Mine is backed up by my factual comments above...yours appears to be based on gut instinct alone.
I'm not being snarky; I just don't see anything on that coin that would keep it from a 66. A 66 is not a perfect coin and in most cases will have many visible imperfections.
I say that coin gets a 66 at PCGS today, too.

This is all under the assumption that the pics are not doctored....

I agree with this synopsis.
the blurring going on in a few key areas. i forget the name of the
photoshop tool that does it. samples an area and allows you to
blend it in with other areas.
<< <i>pictures sure appear to have been messed with to me. you can see

It's called "smudge" and you can see clearly in this picture where it was smudged. This feature is used to cover imperfections (Pimples) on models etc.

so that brings up the question about the previous poster who swears
up and down that this is a 66 all day long now days when the pics
are obviously messed with.
hmmm
i also agree with another poster who said that this era of slab and
the grading was very unpredictable.
You hit it right on the head. I can't say much but I can say others are looking into this ring of people what will come of it time will tell.
Myself and others have them but hold onto them if the powers that be (not ebay) want more. Off the subject a bit I once saw a picture she listed on ebay her thumb was in it it looked like to a tee like a big toe Im not kidding, maybe she had to have a transplant thats why she needs to rip people off to pay for the transplant?

well step back for a minute and realize PCGS at one time thought
that was a 66...
for someone to agree with it is not a wild crazy guess...
i am not sure of the grade with the pics being doctored... and thus
avoided that road.
<< <i>There is a certain level of coin where you just have to see it in hand before purchasing. At the very least check the return policy. >>
The return policy doesn't mean much, or ever did, because experienced sellers realize that most people don't bother with returns, and most buyers don't know how to grade. You must ask your self this... would you bid on the coin? If not, why?
