I would imagine they are setting aside proof dollars for that but I could be wrong. I imagine it will be one or another not both. You may be right it may be the uncirculated in that set.

Click on the uncirculated dollar and read what they say.

From the mint website (for the unc Lincolns):

Waiting List Notice: The number of orders we have taken meets the maximum limit for the 2009 Abraham Lincoln Commemorative Uncirculated Silver Dollar. You may still place an order for this product, which will go on a waiting list. If a product becomes available due to an order cancellation, we will fulfill orders from the waiting list on a first-in, first-served basis. We cannot provide information about your position on the waiting list.

Ahh. The old "waiting list" routine!

Kinda like over-selling airline tickets in my opinion. Its either available or it ain;t.

Shoot, I'd sell them one for $140.95 plus shipping image But you can only order 100 at a time image
  • jessewvujessewvu Posts: 5,065 ✭✭✭✭✭
Hey, I forgot. The US Mint only allows 7 days for returns now so the wait list shouldn't last very long at all.
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭

I ordered 10 more also. I ordered 10 proofs Sunday.
  • The email I received yesterday states they expect to ship mine on 4/3/09...image

Kept my proof order but canceled 10 uncs on Sunday night. As a result the order went from in progress to hold.

Just what I've always wanted...to be on the Mint's waiting list to buy some MS-63 Lincoln Dollars that were returned to the Mint by flippers and cherry-pickers who considered them rejects! image

At least now, they only have 7 days to make a decision and the return...of course, some of them go through 100 in a day and return them because they "aren't a 70".

Why would they pay to return them when there is a willing market for them on ebay?

One uncirculated has just been bid up to $157. You can still get them for $109.95 with a cashback besides.

I just tried to see if I could order one - both Unc and Proof versions can be ordered as of right now (backordered until 4/3).

The uncirculated can be ordered but are on a waiting list only as they have sold all that are available. The waiting list is for junk returns!
  • droopyddroopyd Posts: 5,381 ✭✭✭
I was able to add the Uncs to my cart with no mention of a waiting list.

I already ordered, I was just checking to see if the status had changed. Yesterday when I tried to add to cart I got the wait list notice, today I did not get the notice.

So, what was the total mintage? 250,000 of each? I thought they always sold any amount of either Proof or UNC, until the total (500k) was met. If this is true, how can UNC be sold out, and Proof still available???
  • TwoSides2aCoinTwoSides2aCoin Posts: 44,214 ✭✭✭✭✭
    My question is :

How many are currently listed on eBay ?
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭

It is not an equal amount. My guess is 150,000 uncirculated, 300,000 proofs and 50,000 for the 5 piece set later this summer. There are not many proofs left either.

There again I could be off by a few thousand either way.

40 minutes to go on eBay. Hurry, hurry, hurry !
  • My partner and I have upwards of 400 2009 Lincoln Silver Dollars coming. 70% of them were ordered at the lower price - I think some orders are likely to be cancelled or there was something wrong with them as they were ordered in mid February and I have zero of them so far.

  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭

It kind of looks like only about 130,000 uncirculated were minted and probably 320,000 proofs. Won't this create a shortfall on the amount of coins available uncirculated? There is not that high an amount of 70's graded either.
  • I have to admit I'm not particularly happy with the strike of my Lincoln uncirc; it is rather wavy and uneven, so that the cartwheel is unappealing and on the reverse the letters on the device vary in depth. I was going to send it back for another, but now I see that it is probably pointless to do so.

Just buy one of the 70's online and you will get a perfect coin. You can sell the one you have and not have it cost you too much.

Based on the UHR non-FIFO order fulfillment experience, if you really want more of the Lincoln Uncs, wait a couple more days before ordering. That way your order will be way down on the list and get filled first by the PBGS dolts!!!

I was able to order one of each of the UNC and PROOF versions last night after reading
all the posts, before it was too late. Shipping is estimated for April 3rd.

Today, only the PROOF version is available.

Today, the Braille Commemoratives were available. Keeping this set current with one
of each type is all I care to do.
