And for those that mock my CBH and IHC coins because they don't work with my avatar....does my new UHR fill the bill??

Very nice!

What did it grade?

I guess MS70

<< <i>It's a good image, but I think it's a bit on the dark side for how bright the coin is in-hand. >>
Because of the high relief it's very difficult to get the lighting correct to show that.
That's the best I could do after many, many shots.

I didn't know the PCGS MS70 ratio was so high.
<< <i>Russ, does the coin you imaged have a cud error at K12? >>
Nah, that's the plastic tab thingy from the PCGS slab. I'd love to be able to image one of these without the plastic.

<< <i>I didn't know PCGS was doing the prong thing. >>
I believe they do to show the lettered edge.
<< <i>Here is mine....
I think I like this one better than the TrueView.

<< <i>That's not really your coin - it's a stock image.
I bet no one could tell the difference either.....$20....Cha-ching. Copy. Paste. Another $20. CHA CHING!
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Blue62vette's are better and fill in the detail better but seem to overexpose the highlights a bit (on my monitor at work at least).
This coin requires very soft lighting. I have yet to play with one to see how things work.
<< <i>Phil's image looks a little dark. The shadows are a little too deep for me.

The coin is tough. I agree that the Phil photo is a tad too dark.
I had about half an hour to play with one before it went back in the box and shipped out. I am happy with my shot but agree on the overexposed area. I don't like to diffuse light (personal preference) so lights were far away, even that cause some glare. The Phil photo looks over diffused to the point where you lose good color and it is too dark.
Is it from Phil or not?

For comparison here is how the lighting was used by Phil for my TrueView:
My coin is a bit dark as is yours, however your coin has orange hues and mine has more yellow.
Here is the medium size comparison.
edited to add, my coin is much darker than yours on second look.
I'm still amazed at the color differences!!!
<< <i>Thanks northcoin.....that's an amazing comparison.

Thanks for putting the two mediums together. At least as photogrpahed, it looks like you got the innie belly button variety and mine is without or certainly less prominent.

Has to be sort of tiring to have to keep taking photos of these over and over, when the really all look the same... on second thought, for $20 a photo, I bet it's not that tiring

....but I agree with the previous post that these begin to look like stock images, given their near perfect quality. The images seem interchangable to me. Not that that's a bad thing.

I might as well throw mine into the line-up.
These coins are indeed a challenge to photograph, and as you can see I've been practicing a few techniques with various submissions. I only have a few seconds to photograph a coin - but these coins are taking a bit longer. It's tough to know what a certain collector is looking for in a shot, whether it be the surfaces, the luster, the color, etc etc so that begs the question as to which you guys prefer in the various shots of the URH I've taken? Your feedback would help me out.
Thanks

Your first post!
On a serious note, though, good luck with photographing these coins!

<< <i>Just my humble opinion here - but if you don't include the edge you lose most of the sense of depth that the coin has to offer. >>
When I did my image you loose a lot of detail by trying to show the edge. Depth is very tough on close up imaging.

I thought that you/he/Phil used to post as Darkhorse for quite some time?

To answer your inquiry, I'm quite happy with the way you photographed mine (Certificate # 14201280.) Just curious though, have you been comparing the presence or absence of the belly button feature? If so do you find some more pronounced than others apart from how they come out in the photographs? Also curious how many of the First Strike submissions of the UHR ordered TrueView?
