In your opinion, what was the best question ever asked on the forum?

Billet7Billet7 Posts: 4,923 ✭✭✭
I was gonna ask what the dumbest question was, but I figured that would start a rash of forum bashing, and then it would go "poof."

So what is it? And if you remember, who said it? I don't feel like I have been here long enough to make a good choice, so I won't.

"Look at these two images, are they the same coin?"

Every time someone asks that, a scammer or doctor gets outed, or a pedigree is reestablished, or photographic techniques get discussed... or we just get some high-quality soap opera drama. image

It was the one about the meaning of Life and Everything, and the fantastic reply by member “DoG-EnO.” It really did put things in context and charted a path for meaningful life and the universe and everything….But I heard it was zapped by the moderator for not being coin related.

Actually, the movie rights to this thread have already been sold -- Charlie Kaufman is writing the screenplay and Spike Jonze is directing.

IGWT, this is the thread that I was looking for. Not exactly a question asked, but definitely one of the more interesting and reveailing threads I've seen here. I'm surprised it never went *poof*

There is only one thing you can say that is fairly safe: "Hi I am new to the forum, how are you all?. I collect blah and blah. Hope to learn a lot from you guys." That will get you several "welcomes" and a few "fresh meats", after that it is post at your own risk.

Without wading through that multipage thread, was the coin doctor clearly identified who turned a cleaned bright white coin into a rainbow toner and increased its value from $20,000 to $40,000 within a period of less than a year? Also, did PCGS ever end up paying money on this one for having allowed it into their holder in the final instance?

There was one asking who could start the longest thread. IIRC RYK won by creating a thread with Laura Sperber, Bamming, and Russ all in the title. Kinda cheating but entertaining...

Both the Gobrecht and the MOC threads are variations of the question I nominated thirty posts ago: "Look at these two photos, aren't they the same coin?" I swear those ten words have launched more men into battle than Helen of Troy.

PCGS never poofed the original thread and as far as I know the Doctor was never outed. But whoever he is, he does excellent work!
