NewP 82 CC Opinions welcome .. Added unholdered pics

Picked this up yesterday for a reasonable price. Nice and clean. The reverse has PL qualities.

Maybe a slight doubling in the date

And this looks like a die gouge or strike through

Thanks,

Edited to add unholdered pics

Here they are freed up

  • Nice CC there. Looks like a 64 to me.

The haze is distracting- is that PVC?

Thanks Golfer. I'm thinking 64 also

Darktone... a little more specific. What haze where?

I don't know if I can point it out any better than your excellent pictures show.

    Looks great. 63 maybe 64.
Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

Strike and details are nice but I will refrain from a grade as I think there are too many rim
issues to do so unless a CC asides itself from those.

    Real Nice coin though ...

  • Should I get it out of this holder and into my Dansco? I haven't taken it out and inspected the rim yet

What rim issues? Looks like a typical large silver coin that has spent some time being moved around in a canvas bag. Nice coin. I would expect it to slab as a MS63 or 64 on a good day.

Nice, but those thick plastic holders hide to much to give a grade. Take it out
and reshoot, would love to see it naked!

  • Rim issues? Not even noticeable unless you look for them.

    I still say 63, but I don't think 64.

Still a nice coin & a CC is always a treat to own...

I absolutely look for rim damage , HOWEVER, the holder must have been magnifying
the areas of my concern as the OUT OF HOLDER pictures look far better ( reflections ?? )
    than the originals.

My concern now is of staining, being a CC though, it will probably pass as a 63 with the hit on the breast feathering dropping
it a notch. The fields pretty nice on this coin.

Excellent coin for a dansco if that is what you were hoping for image

Thanks everyone. Should I leave well enough alone or maybe a few seconds in some acetone before putting it in my folder? Has a very noticeable thumb print in front of Liberty's nose.

This one has probably been in that holder since it was released from the treasury back in the 60s. Agree there is a lot of haze (no thanks to the holder).

Nice again! I'd say the reverse actually drags this one down. It's a nice
MS63. PL is out of the question as the cartwheels are just too bold.

Wonderful full strike, like most CC's.
