Just picked her up on the bay. I have been holding out on a nice original Columbia. I think I got a pretty good deal. Opinions and grade guesses welcome.
Its in an old green labeled PCGS slab and this is the sellers pic:

To me this is what old coins should look like.
<< <i>I recently spent over twice as much money to get one, granted it is a couple of grades higher, but judging by what you got here I don't know now if my extra money was well spent! >>
I have learned over the years that sometimes the best upgrade is a downgrade with stellar eye appeal.

There is great opportunity in this series to put together a "bang for the buck" set by cherrypicking coins in "pivotal" grades (i.e., the grade after which a marginal increase in quality will cost you a lot of extra money). Just don't concern yourself with breaking the top 50 of the set registry. It's also quite satisfying to look at, say, 10 coins slabbed in the same grade, pick out the best one, and knowing you have one that is legitimately nice for the grade.

Messydesk, that is basically what I am doing with my registry set. I could give a crap load less about breaking the top 50. I just love this series and am set on buying coins that look good in hand. My goal is simply to complete the set with nice looking coin. My set has white coins and toned coins. My weighted average grade is around MS64.5, but I think a lot of my MS64 coins look better in hand than a MS67 of the same coin.
The Columbia above is in an old green PCGS slab and is graded MS65. I have it in hand now and I can tell you it will end up in a MS66 slab before long. I have seen enough of these and this one is defintely undergraded. It cost about $202. There are still some deals on ebay.

Looks like we have the same goal. $202 is an excellent price for that coin. The Grant I got recently was also an eBay steal at $171 shipped (after 8% coupon) for a PCGS 64.

I've lost all love for untoned commems
<< <i>65 with a shot at 66 >>
For some reason, that particular design has never really spoken to me...
