You say "eBay police" like it's a bad thing....

That auction is funny...no picture of the supposed unsearched roll and the pics that are included are completely wrong. What a goof.

Update 2/24/2009: Thanks to J. for letting me know there was an error with the stock photo. What had been pictured was a trade dollar. I have uploaded a second picture, that of a Seated Liberty Quarter. Any bidders who have already bid and wish to retract their bid please do so with no obligation. I can also cancel your bids if you wish.

Not only has this seller managed to get 24 bids but did so with the wrong denomination.

I do hate to see people cheated, but you'd have to be seven kinds of stupid to bid more money than you're willing to stuff down your garbage disposal on an auction like that.

Wow!!! Looks like a whole roll of PROOF Seated Quarters and the bid is only up to $281. Don't any of you try to snipe me on this!

I asked him why he didn't just take a picture of the actual roll. His response:

"I have about 400 rolls to go through, it's tedious."

So, I guess they aren't really "unsearched" image

Anyone that would bid on this is a fool--plain and simple. If the rolls were unsearched the two end coins could be the only coins in the roll. Slugs could abound. Tickles me when sellers say "unsearched rolls, guranteed to be full dates" or all D or S mints, etc. At least one of these bidders will be crying the blues if they are not all shill bidders to begin with.

Information. Guidelines for coins and paper money sellers: ...

So, I get this email back from the seller after informing him that stock pics are not allowed:

"You are wrong on the picture policy, that is for reproductions. The lot came to me from my vendor, sample roll was all Seated with 3 CCs, nice coins. You eBay trolls sure are unfriendly though. Happy bidding.

You all are going to miss out!!

That picture of the proof quarter in the listing convinces me!!

Wow! And it's too tedious for him to go through the 400 rolls. Wow! Get them while you can!

    His answer to my question:

I should include a FAQ next time! This is a very common question. I sample rolls from the same lot. I have 4 more of these rolls to sell, not including the 1 I opened and the 1 up for sale now.

The image in the listing shows an image of a seated dollar, not a seated quarter.

Really there isnt much risk to the buyer. If he pays for it and nothing comes or something besides a roll of seated quarters arrives, Paypal will give them their money back.
