Unless I owned a shop, I'd be reluctant to allow an unknown buyer to come to my home address...maybe you could meet at a neutral place?

Personally, I wouldnt want any of the E-bay nuts knowing where I lived. If he insist, I would take a very large friend with me to meet him in a public place.

    Bob,

Make him pay via PayPal 1st, and then meet him at a nearby Police Station for the pickup.

Have them meet you at the lobby of your local police station and have them pay in cash. Bring a counterfeit pen with you and check each bill. Should go smooth.

Don't let them pay by paypal. You'll have no proof of delivery if they file a paypal claim.

I'm sure he wants to pick it up to avoid using the mail system and possibly having it lost or damaged.

On the other hand, he may just want to find out where you live so he can go through your garbage and peep through your windows.

    Your call image

Really though, I wouldn't have a problem with him picking it up.

I'd say "yes" and then arrange to meet in a public place, where you'll accept cash.

I mean, don't we often use the "can I pick it up" question to separate the scammers from the good guys?

I never had a problem meeting a buyer with cash for cars and race parts I would sell on ebay. Just have them get off at the exit and call you, then you go meet them at the exit or at a safe place near the exit.

When you get the cash, look for the anti-counterfeit strips running thru the dollars top to bottom. I've never seen a counterfeit that had those strips in them.

Doesn't hurt to bring a friend also, and I would shy away from a 0 feedback bidder wanting to do that.

Edited to add - I passed on some PM bars last week on ebay because the seller wouldn't let me pick them up in person. I agree that we use that as a test of a scammer. It's also very possible that he is afraid of the craigslist cards and doesn't want to be scammed.

NEVER take PayPal on a "local pickup."

    You WILL lose your money.

    ...........

Personal pickups at the police-station parking lot or the bank lobby
    are usually just fine.

It might be someone that wants to make sure you aren't scamming him with a fake PSA 9 Mantle. Seeing it in person would be his way to inspect it before parting with $1600 of his hard earned dollars. I'd think that was reasonable enough. But definitely at a public place.

Ask the buyer for his personal info...address and phone number.
Then do a people reverse lookup. Isn't this info available from ebay anyways??????
Do a buyer ebay search...is he buying high $ cards and with good feedback for them.

As far a cash....have a receipt ready and write a receipt. Check his drivers liscense and have him sign it.

If he checks out i would have no problem having him over.

You may get a customer for more items.
