what a complete waste of our time and money.

    Theory...........

There will NEVER be a trial.

The criminal allegation springs for a screwball drug issue.

The new AG has been told to lighten up on drug nonsense.

Today, the AG took the first steps toward getting the Feds
    out of the drug biznez.

  • He has a great legal team and it looks like the case is falling apart. In a way Im glad. I want this to go away. He will not get off so easy with the fans and HOF voters.

<Anderson told Illston on Friday that he would refuse to testify even if she ordered him imprisoned during the trial, which she promised to do. He already has served a year in prison for refusing to testify in 2006 before a federal grand jury investigating Bonds for perjury>

from the way it reads to me, just looks like it being delayed to mess with his billboard sized head, all i read about was delays and sticking some balco nut in prision
is this the ballco guy that been in prison forever for all of this? wonder how much money hes getting from billboard head? sounds like hes still going down to me eventually, at least he'll never play MLB ball again, unless he joins the frontier league here in town withthe redcoats
thats good enough for me,overpriced belhopimage

  • I disagree , I think Barry gets in rather quickly. Hank Aaron has publically said Barry should keep the record . Also HOF'ers like Mike Schmidt will also help the cause . Plus Barry's numbers differ from the likes of Mcgwire because Mcgwire only hit home runs . Barry has multiple MVP's.

I in no way condone steroids but Barry's walks , stolen bases , home runs and MVP's will get him in.

Mike Schmidt is only going to help us Barry haters. He's a piece of work to say it nicely on these boards!

I wonder if that guy (Anderson) has a "true friendship" with Bonds, and is just loyal to him? As he spent a year in the "clink" for refusing to testify, and said he will not testify again, even if it means more prision time?

U think he was paid-off by the Bonds team? image

Maybe our Government should secretly install zoom rotating cameras, hidden inside the walls and tiny high powered microphones in thousands of gyms and workout centers, in school and college gyms and locker rooms, and have the ability to drag anyone out of their homes, work or school and force a random drug test.

Should I stop now? Or continue for the good of the Motherland? image

  • Greg Anderson's loyalty to Bonds is unbelievable to me. I am not sure if Barry paid him off in advance, or what, but Anderson is saving Barry's butt.

I read where they have been friends since the age of 12.

    Yes to both.

Bonds must have paid this guy a ton. No way do I rot in jail for anyone, unless we are talking at least 7 figures a year. They should try to follow the money in this case, there must be an offshore account somewhere. Is it legal to pay someone not to testify?

By the way, there is no chance Bonds will get into the Hall. He's been blackballed and rightfully so.
  • Zero chance at first ballot. Maybe in twenty years when the voters find a way to judge this generation of players some of the known users will get in.

Aren't you late for church, Cokin75? Hurry up -- you've still got time to get there.

Nope, I'm not late for church. I just don't like cheaters. These guys made a farce of baseball, turning it into a video game. The whole, "everybody was doing it" doesn't fly with me either. None of these guys should be in the Hall of Fame, I don't care how "good they were before" steroids. On a deeper level, these guys are a microcosm of today's society, wanting everything the easy way. They should not be rewarded for it.

By the way, I have no problem with Pete Rose being in the Hall.
  • Bonds is different from Sosa and Mcgwire in that he did more then hit home runs. Besides Mcgwire refused to talk about it , Clemens
denied but there is proof to the contrary . With Bonds he has denied but the prosecution isnt even sure if they have enough proof to
continue with the trial . I know its probably obvious that he took steroids but how can a man be proven guilty without a failed test .

It is still a shame that Bonds felt he needed steroids in the first place . He had a HOF career before all this stuff . I think he gets in within the first 3 years but will forever be remembered for the roids and his love for the media.image

    From How Stuff Works..........

Hitting 500 homers, collecting 3,000 hits, or winning 300 games does not produce an automatic ticket to Cooperstown. In fact, there is no statistical guideline. Voting baseball writers are instructed to judge each candidate on ability, integrity, sportsmanship, character, and contribution to the team or teams on which he played -- as well as to baseball in general.

Cheaters must always fail the test.

You just don't get it, Cokin75. Rose is one of the most despicable players to ever wear an MLB unifirm. Just ask Ray Fosse (all-star Cleveland catcher) what he thought of Rose's years-after-the-fact comment -- you know, the one where Rose said that he would still have made an NFL-like collision at home plate in an All-Star Game. [Rose's "body slam" ended Fosse's career -- all for the sake of winning an All-Star game.]

i would have bowled him over too. the All-Star game is supposed to be an exhibition of the best baseball has to offer. not then, but it's especially important nowadays because the winner gets home advantage in the world series. but, personally, i don't wanna watch billions of dollars worth of players doggin it on the field. you never got anything less than the best from Rose. i loved his head first slides into 1st base, loved the way he would sprint down the line after a walk.... on and on

RoarIn84: Is there any way for me to "respectfully" say that you've got your head up your a**? You clearly don't understand what "exhibition" means. You also have NO IDEA of what it's like to have a business investment in human capital. That's right, some owner had to keep paying Ray Fosse's salary!!

The All Star game back then was indeed a exhibition but guys played the game to win and had pride in their performance unlike those of today who are just out there posturing for the most part. The All Star game , with a few exceptions , has been a joke for damn near 30 years. I would love to see a home plate collision like that of Rose and Fosse today. It will never happen though because virtually no one gives 100% at the game anymore. If they are so concerned about injury and the loss of a capital investment then they should just stop playing the game because it is a complete mockery of what it once was. Hell even the Home Run Derby is a joke!!

OK, here's what you do. Get a running start, keep your eyes wide open, and slam face first into a mirror. That should satisfy your craving. image

Regretfully that wouldn't come close to satisfying my craving. There is nothing better than body colliding into body!!

I've always heard the "Rose ended Fosse's career" story about the 1970 All-Star game, so I checked out Fosse's stats on baseball reference.

    - Fosse played 120 games in 1970, 133 in 1971, 134 in 1972, and 143 in 1973. The streak ended in 1974 when Reggie Jackson crushed a disc in back during a locker room fight Fosse was trying to break up. After that he was never more than a part time player.
    - His production did decline every starting in 1971, but it wasn't a significant drop. Benito Santiago has a similar drop and Pete Rose didn't smack into him. Maybe catchers just don't age that well....except for Bench and Fisk.
    - He was an All-Star in 1971 as well. I guess even with a bum shoulder he was still one of the best catchers in the AL.

I think the hit Rose put on him during the All-Star game is more legend than fact. I'm not doubting that Fosse got hurt, but I think the lingering effects were a little overstated. If anything Reggie Jackson should apologize for turning Fosse into a role player.

  • for what it's worth, i found this on a message board posted by someone who researched it:

"...Rose and Billy Grabarkowitz had singled in the bottom of the 12th of a 4-4 game. Jim Hickman singled. Rose rounded third as Amos Otis threw home. Rose began his head first slide then noted that Fosse had moved into the third base line prior to the throw reaching the plate. Incidentally, that was an illegal move on Fosse's part. Rose came up out of his slide and hit Fosse as the throw reached the plate, Rose scoring the winning run. Regarding the impact on Fosse's carrer, it's really open to question. Fosse played the next game after the break; while Rose missed several games, with both players being initiatlly hospitalized. Rose took several weeks to regain his form, while Fosse finished the season hitting over .300. Fosse didn't show the power he had before the break or ever again, which is frequently the case after a rookie has a good first half of his rookie season. Fosse played until 1979, gaining a couple of world series rings with the A's. He says that he now has arthritis in the shoulder that Rose hit. Both players were being agressive duing the play. Fosse illegally blocked the plate, and Rose moved him away..."

oh yeah, Bonds would have gotten in without the roids, but all that cheated strength probably turned about 100-150 routine flyballs into homeruns. now he's anathema to baseball and won't get in. 'The Good of America' won't let him, even tho he's already been asterisked. there will be plenty of Bonds memorabilia in the Hall tho

It's quite comical thae Fanof390 has no problem with Bonds, a cancer on the game if there ever was one, and condemns Pete Rose for playing hard and running over Fosse who was illegally positioned in the basepath to begin with. Maybe all those bold faced words get in the way of rational thinking, LOL..
