If this series was still selling for $350 I'd consider it. By itself it's ugly but when you put them all together it's an interesting piece of history and that's a lot of gold.
I'm in for the whole series of proofs. I suspect that later on, the babes get hotter. In fact, it's the homely ones that make you appreciate the hot ones even more.
Besides, i'm not above buying a coin that I laugh at.
I'm buying. I am worried about the price increases and the fact that there is going to be two of John Tylers wives. I had never collected gold and thought I'd start a gold collection I could complete. I do like the fact that it will be a varied collection. I actually prefer the uncirculated coins and so far have bought both the proof and unc. I know the series has taken a lot of negative hits on this forum but I like it. I do believe when we get to Eleanor Roosevelt, and Jackie, interest will go up and eventually this will be a desirable item. With mintage numbers so low I am interested in seeing what happens with the two Ms Tylers and the increased costs. If need be, down the line I'll just buy the Unc.s and use the extra Proofs I already have to help support my quest if finances get tight.
I've been buying each of the uncirculateds and proofs so far. Not sure I'm buying on release day though. With the new pricing policy, not much of an incentive to buy right away. Will probably wait until gold prices drop (which I suspect they will sometime over the next year these will be on sale), and if they don't drop I'll try to pick up some for under mint prices but probably above melt on the secondary market. Only problem I can see in waiting to buy is that if I wait too long I might be shipped coins that were returned from the early buyers.
I used to buy 10 of these (each) and submit them for my registry set. Since I am selling everything, I won't be getting any more of these ladies. Maybe the Lincoln coin. Other than that, this fella is done with the First Spouse coins.
As time goes on, I expect them to get hotter. As in the later coins will have prettier ladies. Once again, it's about contrast. You appreciate the pretty ladies more when you have uglier ones to compare them with.
Even though I've bought 2 proofs and 2 uncs of each released so far, I'm holding off on this one until gold prices come down. If they don't, I'll try to pick some up on the secondary market closer to spot (whatever that may be). The mint premium just seems much higher than it used to be on these.

<< <i>Wake me up when Jackie Kennedy goes on sale...
That may be the series' best chance for another 20,000 proof and 20,000 unc sellout.
Not sure if any of the other Ladies even have a chance given the fixed premium to spot and the pace they are currently selling.
