PSA/DNA is going to be having a great special for the month of March so I'm lettingyou all know in advance if you need to start getting things ready.
The information is listed below so please read it carefully and if you have questions call customer service. This special should be posted should be on our websites (main pages) later this week as well.
It is only valid for orders postmarked between March 1 - March 31st so don't mail your packages early!
Also, for those that will be attending the Philly Show and/or The Chicago Sun Times show in March we will be offering this special at these shows.

Any full-price submission sent to PSA/DNA for autograph authentication between March 1 and March 31 will be graded for FREE! That’s right. Not only will your prized autographs be eligible for authentication by the number one brand in the hobby, PSA/DNA will throw in the grading of your autographs at no additional charge.

This special wouldn’t cover that.
If the item is already been through PSA/DNA for authentication you will need to send it in and pay the grading fees. You are correct; the autograph needs to be graded to go in to the Autograph Set Registry.

edited to add that encapsulation of a trading card or cut is not required and will cost the additional encapsulation fee (as applicable) if you do want it encapsulated.

No. The PSA/DNA registry is for graded autos only.
Red flips go in to the PSA registry- the auto is not graded, the card is.

Yep, red flip = good, blue flip = bad, unless it is an index or cut signature..they are all blue flip.

Yes, I am talking about autograph grading fees. I'm trying to keep the comments as it pertains to this special.
If your question is that you have a blue flip that you want to convert to a red flip - you can send it to PSA and pay the card grading fee that applies based on value, and have the card graded as well.
I have 2 IP auto cards I want to get slabbed and authenticated. $20 each right? For free I get a grade for the auto.
Of course this would all be incumbent on my being employed again in March but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Also, what about multi-signed items. How does autograph grading work for that?

Guys,
This special has absolutely nothing to do with PSA. It is a PSA/DNA special. Therefore cards sent in under this special will not be seen by PSA graders.
If you read through the special again you will see that it is only for items sent in to PSA/DNA and not just trading cards. It is valid for baseballs, bats, footballs, etc.

So if I wanted to get an autographed card authenticated only, this special does nothing for me?
If I want to get an autographed card authenticated and also get the card graded, does this special help?
If I have a card that is autographed, are these the choices I have at PSA/DNA?
1. Get the auto authenticated only.
2. Get the auto authenticated and the card graded.
3. Get the auto graded AND the card graded.
If these are my choices, what are the fees normally? What are the fees with the "Special"? WOW, I'm even more confused after typing this! HAHAHAHAHA

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

This really isn't as confusing as you guys are making it.
As for the questions on the special.
1. no this special doesn't apply to you.
2 no, this is a PSA service and not covered by a PSA/DNA special
3. no, we do not offer both services together at this time.
What you can do in regards to the special is have the autograph on the card authenticated and get the autograph graded for free.

My problem is are they going to change the rules of the registry again after I send these in for an auto grade ? At first you could mix blue flip and red flip cards in the registry,Then it was only red flip cards in the Psa registry and blue flips in the Psa/Dna registry. Now you cant put a just authentic card blue flip card into anything.
Why should I keep spending the dough to have these cards authenticated,graded just to have the rules change again next year.

For the basketball the autograph grade would be averaged.

I can't answer to how the set registry works or may work a few years from now.
I believe that they will remain separate.

ENCAPSULATION Turnaround varies by demand.
This service is available for items such as checks, index cards, cuts, postcards, uncatalogued cards, etc. that you would like encapsulated in PSA/DNA's tamper-evident holder.
Encapsulation, if you choose the service, is now included in the full PSA/DNA authentication fee for those items with an authentication fee of $50 or more. Those items under $50, encapsulation is only an additional fee of $10. Please refer to the autograph authentication chart for more information, www.psadna.com/fees.chtml. Please make sure to clearly mark the appropriate box for encapsulation on the submission form.
If encapsulation in our tamper-evident holder is selected, the submitter will forgo the certificate or full premium letter, PSA/DNA tamper-evident label and DNA daub.
If the customer chooses, they may request both encapsulation and the certificate or letter of authenticity for an additional fee of $10.
All autographs submitted for encapsulation must be submitted as a separate order from items not to be encapsulated (separate shipping fees apply). This will ensure more efficient processing.

If I am reading this right, if I wanted to get a card slabbed and the auto (not card) graded it would cost me as follows for the typical player...
Authentication Fee -- $20
Slabbing $10
Grading of Auto Only -- Free.
So I am dropping 30 bucks for a blue flipped card which I cannot use in my PSA Registry and I can now add to the PSA/DNA registry which is simply based on the quality of autographs.
If I submit the same card to PSA, I can have the Auto authenticated and have the card slabbed Authentic or have the card graded for the standard $20.
Maybe on Super rare/high end items this special makes sense, but for most collectors having an auto grade adds little to the value of their item.

For PSA to say a certain autograph is a 10, really makes no difference as ultimate eye appeal is the key. No argument there Carol. Like I said, I don't understand the concept of grading an autograph, though I am sure there are many who go nuts over having the best example of player XYZ on a specific item.
For me if it is PSA/DNA authentic, I let my eyes do the grading as far as quality, clarity, boldness, etc.
The savings on the grading fee is very nice, and a nice way to get the PSA/DNA Registry moving along.
Please tell Joe to bring back the $10 PSA/DNA red flip special!
