Fake 1956 Mantle Psa 8???

The font on the flip looks wrong and the centering is terrible for an "8". Any thoughts? Mantle

The NM-MT is wrong, it's the same as these craigslist beauties from last year. Poor guy probably thought he was getting a great deal, and might not even know it's bogus.

Is PSA going to do anything about the fake flip thing? It's getting tough buying legit cards these days. You can't trust raw and now you have to watch out for PSA flips.

I think the seller actually thinks the card is legit. Amazing they still have 100% feedback.

I emailed him last nite, as of yet no response. I think he's a coin guy who got a "really good deal" on some cards. In the email I offered him some good links to threads about the craigslist cards and some photos I have - apparently not interested.

24 hours later and still no response. Either he already knew or didn't believe me, or just doesn't care. Sure hope nobody buys it thinking it's a good 8.

I remember this thread. I think JackWesq had identified this Mantle - and managed to grab the PSA flip number a few months ago...

The Mantle in the bad holder is relisted, I was just looking at his other auctions and noticed his 33 goudey 144 babe ruth GAI 2.5 has some writing on front. Looks like somebody drew a smile on the Babe's face. Yet the seller brags
"that the card was carefully protected for many decades by a knowledgeable collector. ".

Maybe he's a scammer after all.
