This is not directed at the OP but how can anyone even want to do business with this guy and
his 98% ebay average and 60+ negs over the past 12 months?

I don't care what he has or how 'cheap' he has it for. Guys like that DO NOT get my money.

If buyers simply looked a little into a sellers reputation sales like this would be few and far between

    Steve

    Good for you.

he sells fakes too? i thoght he just had very bad customer service >>

Burge is a well known patch faker - there have been examples too numerous to count of cards that had plain swatches removed and then pull-of-a-lifetime patches inserted in their place. He's gotten good enough that the card itself isn't damaged, at least as far as an eBay scan can prove, but when the card says "game-used jersey swatch" and a six-color cut patch is there instead, it becomes a dead giveaway. Of course, there are far more uninformed/uneducated/naive buyers out there than there are ones who have a little knowledge or have been burned & learned.

This type of idiot is why I am buying and selling nothing on Ebay these days. 4 of my last 5 transactions had problems with condition, inaccurate descriptions or long delays in shipping.

Therefore, until Ebay cleans up(wishful thinking) I will attempt to buy from trusted, proven dealers and auction houses only, as well as our BST board, even if the cost is higher. While this strategy certainly isn't 100% safe, it beats using Ebay.

I hope it works out for Stephen, one of the great guys on this board.

Sadly guys like Burge ruin it for them.

Ive come across his stuff that Im interested in many times. I cringe when I see the name. I know I'd just be a fool throwing away my money if I bid on his stuff. Pretty sad because if he was respectable, he would probably get 3x the business.

I just received an E-mail from him as well, hERE IT IS............................

I told my shipper to send a refund on it! I guess he did not. Send me your paypal address I will refund you for it as I can not find the card I think it got stolen from me at the national this year as I had it then before I went to the show posted on ebay and now that I have sold it I do not have it!!!!!!! Very sorry about this please please please do not leave negative feedback. I will get the money refunded to you in the next 2 days as my account is in a negative balance because this jackass did a charge back when he received the item for over $900! I am getting that fixed in the next couple days and I am also sorry about the postage due i will refund you for that as well! If there is something I have for sale let me know if you are interested in it as I will do my best to hook you up. Thanks for being understanding

I know this is probably a BS story, But he seems willing to refund me for the card, Shouldnt he know my Paypal address already ??
Should I take him up on getting another card from him or just wait and see if he comes through on the refund ?

Both of you should be nice until you get your refunds, and then bang him hard with negatives and 1's across the DSR board. Nothing this piece of garbage says should be taken as sincere....ever.

I am afraid he is going to try and string me along for the refund claiming that his Paypal balance is negative. But I am also afraid that if I try to trade another card for the one he owes me he may try to screw me another way.

So the guy who thinks sellers charging $3 to ship are gouging buyers has a soft spot for this known piece of trash seller?

If you go that route, just make sure it's one of equal value so he doesn't have any reason to request more money. Absent that, he really can't screw you anymore. You've got plenty of time to file with paypal (45 days from dop I believe). He won't be able to stall his way out of that one. It sounds like he doesn't want any more negs, so he'll probably make good on it.

After viewing his site, I think he should let his gf run the show. Except for his parents, she was the only one on there who appeared to have any sense. At least he wouldn't be losing customers left and right for crappy customer service.

Everyone that has had the slightest of problems with this guy needs to neg him and leave him 1 star DSR's across the board. Scum like this needs to be dealt with harshly.

I think he has likely read this thread. He submits to PSA so he is likely a silent board member and it is also quite possible a friend or alley of his is a member. I like another board member have previously won something real cheap and he could not find it.

Make sure to keep all communications through eBay directly. After multiple requests for either the card or a refund, I had to file a case with Paypal to get the $ back. All for a whopping $2 card.

    Dear tennesseebanker,

Unless the card in question (or any potential future card in question) is rare and he is the only seller that has it, why even bother with Shoeless Joe again? And even if that is the case, I will still be hesitate based upon what I have read in this thread. Sure he has 10,000+ positive feedback on ebay. But the number of neutral and negative feedbacks he has received is disturbing to say the least.

It is just a matter of time before the guy has LE trouble.

Eventually, he will rip somebody who will take the time to
    close him down.

    NOT a pretty picture.

Based on some of his FB left for sellers, ALL of his buying-IDs should

Is your life that empty, that you enjoy intentionally trying to tick someone off on a message board? If you tried this in person, I would probably flatten your nose, since I have been known to have a bad temper when provoked. But.. on a message board, all I can do is reply to your ignorant trolling.

I guess there always has to be people like you in all parts of life. Now, how about you cut out the ignorant trolling, and let's get back to what the thread was originally about?

I think the guy's MO is to do this as much as possible and get away with whatever he can whenever he can. If you get 10 guys to give up on 50 bucks cuz it just isnt worth it, thats 500 dollars in his pocket for free. The guy is a scumbag any way you slice it.

I hope you are one of the rare ones who actually gets his refund...good luck!

yahnkee don't get overly worked up about Stan and his bad temper. You see his obsession with Albert Pujols has led him to using the same exact steroid cycle as Albert. Injecting all that juice and having no outlet for the roid rage has left him with a terrible temper. Every time you anger him on the boards he goes and beats his two cats "Albert" and "Pujols". He has mentioned before that he his at least as big and strong as Albert Pujols so be careful. I mean having your testicles ascend into your abdomen has got to leave you with a chip on your message board shoulder.

Ah.. people like you and some others I know on here have cluttered this board with nonsense to the point that there is nothing really card worthy on here anymore. If I want to see/read/enjoy good hobby knowledge, I am realizing more and more that this is certainly not the place for that anymore. I use to really enjoy coming here, but the interesting hobby content is becoming less and less. It's a shame, really. No wonder a lot of the decent folks are posting less and less(as they have told me via pm and in emails), and some are moving to other sites to learn/share/talk about the hobby, since this place is more like the Jerry Springer show these days, because some folks only come here for cheapshot gutter entertainment, at other's expense.

*Just to be clear, I am not speaking about everyone on here, because there are some good guys here. They know who they are.

I just looked at my first page and every thread is Sports Cards & Memorabilia related. This particular thread had tons of great info, advice and myspace pictures. I think after a couple pages everything that could be answered was answered and we were all giving the same advice so I think this plane has landed and most passengers have left the airport so this is hardly a hijacking at all.

The question is, who will do anything about it? He probably knows that no one will because they arent being sold for thousands of dollars. It would have to be quite a large purchase for someone to take action. There are so many scammers that do fraudulent things and no one will ever do anything to shut them down because its not financially worth it and its not worth their time. A sad and unfortunate truth.
