....a slabbed MS67 Morgan that they believe should be in a MS68 slab instead?

    dragon, your pic is a bit too washed out for me to really get a feel for that one.......got any other pics of it?
    That cheek does look to be puffy.....
    But is that residue in the fields?

    Unfortunately that's the best my cheapo scanner can do. It's not residue at all, just really super deep mirror fields with a bit of haze that the scanner makes look much worse.

    Those 2 coins are top of the line. Wow...

    Best I have is 66 so I'm disqualified from this match.

    Maybe Sunnywood has a few that fit the OP's question?
    Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

    It's better than some 68's I've seen, but not better than most. Would be a low end 68...but would be easier to sell as a low end 68 than a high end 67!image

    I guess we really are narrowing this search down to an 81-S or 80-S, maybe even a 79-S, as I've seen a few of those in spectacular condition...

    greg, your piece has a nice look...I also appreciate the subtle antique tones....similar to the toning acquired from years in an old NGC or ANA slab....just a tad less purplish.

    My 67 is a 79S that is solid for the grade. On the posted 68 are the scratches in the obverse field on the coin or the plastic?
